TO SUPPORT HIGH-POTENTIAL SINGLE PARENTS WITH FINANCIAL NEEDS IN PULASKI COUNTY TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOAL OF A HIGHER EDUCATION.

SINGLE PARENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND (SPSF)PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME, HIGH-ACHIEVING SINGLE-PARENTS IN PULASKI COUNTY WHO ARE EARNING A DEGREE OR CERTIFICATE FRON A NOT-FOR-PROFIT COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY IN PULASKI COUNTY. SPSF FUNDING IS FLEXIBLE -- STUDENTS CAN UTILIZE FINDING FOR EXPENSES APPROVED BY OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS. IN ADDITION, SPSF SCHOLARSHIP RECEPIENTS PARTICIPATE IN A STONG MENTOR PROGRAM AND PARTICIPATE IN WORKSHOPS THAT ARE DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS TO BE EMPOWERED IN THE AREAS OF 1) PARENTING AND PERSONAL MANAGEMENT, 2) FINANCIAL AND HALTH LITERACY, 3) COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND 4) PROFESSIONALISM. CONSISTENTLY, OVER 95% OF THE SPSF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS GRADUATE OR CONTINUE WITH THEIR EDUCATION. MANY GRADUATES GO ON TO PURSUE HIGHER DEGREES AND BECOME LEADERS IN THEIR FIELDS. SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS MOVE FROM A PLACE OF BEING ECONOMICALLY DEPENDENT TO BEING ECONOMICALLY INDEPENDENT AND VIBRANTLY CONTRIBUTING TO THE COMMUNITY. WHEN SINGLE PARENTS MOVE OUT OF POVERTY THEY BRING THEIR CHILDREN WITH THEM.
