THE FOCUS AND THEME CENTER ON HOW LANGUAGE IS AN ESSENTIAL AND FOCAL POINT TO CONNECT THE INDIGENOUS IDENTITY, CULTURE AND HISTORY OF THE ISLAND PEOPLE. THE 2021 LIS WAS CONDUCTED VIA A VIRTUAL PLATFORM BECAUSE OF COVID RESTRICTIONS AND WAS ATTENDED BY PARTICIPANTS FROM OKINAWA, JAPAN, OTHER ASIAN & EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, CANADA, MANY STATES ON THE CONTINENTAL USA, AND HAWAII COMMUNITY.
