OUTDOOR EDUCATION-SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY OUTDOOR EDUCATION PROGRAM IS A FIVE-DAY, FOUR NIGHT EXPERIENCE FOR FIFTH- AND SIXTH-GRADE STUDENTS FROM THE COUNTY'S PUBLIC, PRIVATE, AND PAROCHIAL SCHOOLS. DURING THE COURSE OF A SCHOOL YEAR, IT ACCOMMODATES MORE THAN 4,000 CAMPERS AND 700 VISITING TEACHERS AND HIGH SCHOOL CABIN LEADERS. EACH YEAR THE FOUNDATION HOLDS AN OUTDOOR ED RAFFLE TO RAISE MONEY FOR SCHOOLS TO HELP OFFSET THE COSTS TO STUDENTS TO ATTEND.
SJC AGVENTURE TEACHES THIRD-GRADE STUDENTS ACROSS THE COUNTY ABOUT THE COUNTY'S BOOMING AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRY AND NUTRITION EDUCATION TO INCREASE THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO LEAD A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE, THROUGH FOUR STRATEGICALLY LOCATED SJC AGVENTURE FIELD DAYS EACH SCHOOL YEAR IN MANTECA, STOCKTON, LODI AND TRACY.
GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS/GRANTS-THE FOUNDATION RECEIVES A MYRIAD OF DONATIONS FROM VARIOUS SOURCES AND ISSUES SCHOLARSHIPS OR GRANTS OUT TO STUDENTS IN A MULTITUDE OF CATEGORIES. THOSE INCLUDE, SUPPORTING ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION AND MIGRANT EDUCATION STUDENTS WHO CHOSE TO ATTEND COLLEGE, YOUTHBUILD STUDENTS WHO ATTEND NATIONAL CONFERENCES, SPONSORING TABLES AT COMMUNITY EVENTS, AWARDS FOR STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN STUDENT EVENTS SUCH AS THE SPELLING BEE OR SCIENCE FAIR.
