TO ORGANIZE, PROMOTE, AND PRESENT MUSIC-BASED FESTIVALS AND EVENTS THAT STIMULATE THE LOCAL ECONOMY, ENHANCE TOURISM IN THE HUMBOLDT BAY REGION, SUPPORT YOUTH MUSIC EDUCATION AND SENIOR PROGRAMS, AND PROMOTE INTER-GENERATIONAL AND MULTI-CULTURAL OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH MUSIC.

FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS, RCMF BOARD HAS ORGANIZED, PROMOTED, AND PRESENTED THE REDWOOD COAST MUSIC FESTIVAL, A FOUR DAY EVENT FEATURING A VARIETY OF MUSIC INCLUDING JAZZ, SWING, ZYDECO, BLUES, AND MORE. THE WEEKEND FEATURES A VARIETY OF HEADLINER BANDS, GUEST ARTISTS, YOUTH BANDS, AND LOCAL BANDS WHO PERFORM FOR OVER 4,500 MUSIC AND DANCE ENTHUSIASTS. IN TOTAL, THERE ARE OVER 100 SETS OF MUSIC STARTING WITH THE KICK OFF DANCE ON THURSDAY NIGHT. LOCAL BUSINESSES AND INDIVIDUALS HELP SPONSOR THIS EVENT. THE FESTIVAL IS ORGANIZED BY AN ALL-VOLUNTEER BOARD AND IS ASSISTED BY COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS WHO HELP OPERATE THE VENUES. A FESTIVAL WAS NOT HELD IN 2021 AND 2020 DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC.
RCMF ALSO COLLECTED USED MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, PAID TO HAVE THEM RESTORED, AND THEN DONATED INSTRUMENTS TO LOCAL SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAMS. RCMF SUPPORTED OTHER NONPROFIT OGANIZATIONS BY DONATING TICKETS AND MERCHANDISE FOR THEIR FUNDRAISING EVENTS. THESE ACTIVITES WERE LIMITED IN 2021 AND 2020 DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC.
RCMF SUPPORTED LOCAL SENIORS BY PROVIDING FREE MUSIC EVENTS AT THE FESTIVAL AND REDUCED TICKET PRICES. IN ADDITION, RCMF SUPPORTED THE YOUTH BY PROVIDING A SPECIAL FREE MUSIC CONCERT FOR LOCAL SCHOOLS AND FREE MUSIC CLINICS FOR SELECTED SCHOOLS. THESE ACTIVITES WERE LIMITED IN 2021 AND 2020 DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC.
