FUNDING WAS PROVIDED TO TEACHERS AND OTHERS OF THE TAHOE TRUCKEE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO SUPPORT SPECIFIC ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMS AND CLASSROOM GRANTS. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED $104,987 IN GRANTS, INCLUDING SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUAL CLASSROOM MATERIALS AND PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROVIDE ACADEMIC SUPPORT TO SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENTS. THIS YEAR, EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION FUNDED A GRANT TO TAHOE TRUCKEE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO EXPAND A PILOT PROGRAM UTILIZING SOCIAL WORKERS IN THE SCHOOLS. THIS PROGRAM WILL HELP ADDRESS THE INCREASED SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL AND CRISIS NEEDS OF STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. ADDITIONALLY, EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION CONTINUES IN A MULTI-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH TWO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS TO FUND A THREE-YEAR PROGRAM, FOREST FIRE, WHICH UTILIZES ART, SCIENCE, AND HUMANITIES TO TEACH STUDENTS ABOUT THE HISTORY AND IMPACT OF FIRE IN OUR REGION.
