TO ENHANCE PUBLIC EDUCATION WITHIN THE TAHOE TRUCKEE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO STRENGTHEN THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR STUDENTS.

FUNDING WAS PROVIDED TO TEACHERS AND OTHERS OF THE TAHOE TRUCKEE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO SUPPORT SPECIFIC ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMS AND CLASSROOM GRANTS. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED $241,280 IN GRANTS, INCLUDING SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUAL CLASSROOM MATERIALS AND PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROVIDE ACADEMIC SUPPORT TO SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENTS. THIS YEAR, EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION FUNDED A GRANT TO TAHOE TRUCKEE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO SUPPORT CHROMEBOOK COMPUTERS FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS. THIS EXPANDS ON THE SCHOOL DISTRICT'S PREVIOUS MODEL OF PROVIDING CHROMEBOOK COMPUTERS FOR 4TH - 12TH GRADE STUDENTS. TEACHERS AND STUDENTS HAVE ALL ADAPTED TO USING COMPUTERS AS PART OF DAILY EDUCATION, INCLUDING AGE-APPROPRIATE USE IN THE YOUNGER ELEMENTARY LEVELS. ADDITIONALLY, EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION WRAPPED UP A MULTI-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH TWO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS TO FUND A THREE-YEAR PROGRAM, FOREST FIRE, WHICH UTILIZES ART, SCIENCE, AND HUMANITIES TO TEACH STUDENTS ABOUT THE HISTORY AND IMPACT OF FIRE IN OUR REGION.
