NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PROVIDING INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES. PROVIDES INFORMATION AND REFERRAL PEER COUNSELING ADVOCACY AND INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS TRAINING AND ACTION SERVICES. ALSO PROVIDES COMPUTER TRAINING SUPPORT GROUP ADAPTED TRANSPORTATION AMONG OTHER SERVICES.

MAVI OPERATES TWO LIVING CENTERS IN THE NORTHERN AND METRO REGION OF PUERTO RICO. ALMOST ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES RECEIVE CORE SERVICES SERVICES CONSISTING OF INDEPENDENT SKILLS TRAININGS ADVOCACY PEER COUNSELING INFORMATION AND REFERRAL AND TRANSITIONS SERVICES. OTHER SERVICES RECEIVED BY OUR PARTICIPANTS INCLUDES ADAPTED TRANSPORTATION ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY DONATIONS OF ASSISTIVE EQUIPMENT COMPUTER CLASSES PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES SUPPORT GROUPS ADAPTED SPORT ACTIVITIES SIGN LANGUAGE COURSE AND SOCIALIZATION ACTIVITIES AMONG OTHERS. DURING 2020-2021 OUR 4 CENTERS IMPACTED OVER 400 PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WITH OUR DIRECT SERVICES. THIS DOES NO INCLUDE THE THOUSANDS IMPACTED WITH OUR OUTREACH SERVICES IN FAIRS RADIO AND TELEVISION PROGRAMS AND SOCIAL MEDIA EXPOSURE. OF THE TOTAL PEOPLE SERVED THROUGH OUR DIRECT SERVICE 33% HAVE MULTIPLE DISABILITIES 14% PHYSICAL DISABILITIES 27% COGNITIVE DISABILITIES 9% EMOTIONAL AND OR MINOR MENTAL DISABILITIES 10% AUDITIVE DISABILITIES 7% VISUAL DISABILITIES 12% OF OUR PARTICIPANTS ARE AGE 5-19 YEARS OLD 22% ARE 25-29 YEARS OLD AND 14% 60 YEARS OLD PLUS.
THE CARIBBEAN INCENTIVE PLANNING AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAM CWIPA OPERATE THROUGHOUT THE ISLAND OF PUERTO RICO INCLUDING VIEQUES CULEBRA AND US VIRGIN ISLANDS. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES BENEFIT PLANNING AND ASSISTANCE TO SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY BENEFICIARIES THAT ARE CURRENTLY WORKING OR CONTEMPLATING RETURNING TO WORK. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES BENEFICIARIES A TEST PERIOD SO THEY TRANSITION TO WORK WITHOUT THE FEAR OF LOSING THEIR SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS. WE SERVICED APPROXIMATELY 223 SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY BENEFICIARIES HELPING THEM PLAN FOR A SUCCESSFUL TRANSITION INTO THE WORK PLACE.
THE SUPPORT EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM IS FINANCED BY PUERTO RICO VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION ADMINISTRATION. THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO FIND EMPLOYMENT FOR PARTICIPANTS WHILE PROVIDING ON THE JOB TRAINING WITH THE GOAL OF ALLOWING PARTICIPANTS TO MAINTAIN THE JOBS ON THEIR OWN. THE PROGRAM PROVIDED SERVICES TO 15 PERSONS REFERRED BY VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION ADMINISTRATION VRA. 85% OF OUR CUSTOMERS WERE PLACED IN EMPLOYMENT.
