TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE S. FLA ENVIRONMENT & THE MANY SPECIES IT CONTAINS & TO PROVIDE EXCELLENT CARE FOR SICK, INJURED OR ORPHANED NATIVE WILDLIFE. THE SNC OFFERS CAMP & EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO THE COMMUNITY.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS: THE SAWGRASS NATURE CENTER PROVIDED ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR OVER 14,500 CHILDREN AND ADULTS THROUGH OUR SCHOOL, CAMP OUTREACH PROGRAMS AND EVENTS. THE SNC ALSO PROVIDED OUTREACH PROGRAMS TO NURSING HOMES, SCOUT TROOPS, CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS, AND RECREATIONAL DEPARTMENTS. THE SNC HOSTED SEVERAL LARGE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS DAYS EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY INCLUDING WATER CONSERVATION, CREATING BACKYARD HABITATS, AND HOW TO CO-EXIST WITH NATIVE WILDLIFE. EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED TO THE PUBLIC DURING SCHOOL VACATIONS AND ON WEEKENDS. THE SNC PROMOTES HEALTHY LIVING THROUGH THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AND EXPLORATION, EXERCISE AND NUTRITION. OUR STAFF SERVES ON SEVERAL ADVISORY COMMITTEES AND BOARDS INCLUDING THE CORAL SPRINGS ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE (ESE), LEAGUE OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATORS IN FLORIDA (LEEF), ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION ORGANIZATION (ECO), THE SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR SAWGRASS SPRINGS MIDDLE SCHOOL.


WILDLIFE REHABILITATION: THE SNC PROVIDES CARED FOR OVER 1,300 ORPHANED, SICK AND /OR INJURED WILD BIRDS, MAMMALS & REPTILES WITH THE GOAL OF RELEASING THEM BACK INTO THE NATIVE ENVIRONMENT. THOSE ANIMALS THAT ARE NOT RELEASABLE ARE PROVIDED WITH PERMANENT HOMES AT THE CENTER AND SERVE AS "EDUCATIONAL AMBASSADORS". THE SNC ALSO PROVIDES HOMES OR REFERRALS FOR MANY UNWANTED, ABUSED, OR NEGLECTED EXOTIC PETS. THE SNC SERVES AS AN INFORMATION CENTER HELPING OVER 5,000 HOMEOWNERS, BUSINESSES AND MUNICIPALITIES DEAL WITH WILDLIFE PROBLEMS AND RESCUES. THE CENTER TEACHES RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP AND HOW TO PICK THE CORRECT PET FOR THE RIGHT FAMILY SITUATION.
