PROVIDE EARLY LEARNING EDUCATIONAL SERVICES TO DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN IN GEORGE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

THE SINGING RIVER EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION SERVED CHILDREN, MOST BETWEEN THE AGES OF THREE TO FIVE, THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE ASSOCIATION SERVICES STUDENTS OF DIFFERENT RACE AND ETHNICITY. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO SERVICES ELL STUDENTS AS WELL AS STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES. WORKING CLOSELY WITH FAMILIES TO MAKE SURE ALL CHILDREN HAVE BEEN SCREENED FOR MEDICAL, VISUAL, AND DENTAL NEEDS. ALL STUDENTS MUST BE UP TO DATE ON IMMUNIZATIONS. THE ASSOCIATION HAS TWO CENTERS IN THE GEORGE COUNTY AREA. THE ASSOCIATION IS IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING THE MAIN FACILITY TO A BETTER LOCATION IN ORDER TO BE OF BETTER SERVICE TO CHILDREN AND STAFF. SINGING RIVER EDUCATION ASSOCIATION HAS A PARTNERSHIP WITH GEORGE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT IN THE EARLY LEARNING COLLABORATIVE STATE GRANT. THE ASSOCIATION HAS ALSO GREATLY INCREASED COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS.SOME HIGHLIGHTS FOR THIS YEAR INCLUDED: - PURCHASE OF FACILITY - PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT - REQUEST FOR CONVERSATION TO MEET COMMUNITY NEEDS - INCREASE PAY SCALE FOR TEACHER RETENTION AND RECRUITMENT - UPDATED BOTH CENTER FACILITIES - ADDED ANOTHER CLASSROOM TO ONE FACILITY IMPLEMENTING A PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM FOR GROUNDS AT BOTH CENTERS - ADDED MORE PERSONNEL (POSITIONS) TO ASSIST WITH PROVIDING MORE SERVICES - IMPLEMENTED MORE TECHNOLOGY INCLUDING TIME CLOCK FOR MORE EFFICIENT RECORDS OF EMPLOYEES TIME - IMPLEMENTED A NEW UPDATED EARLY HEAD START CURRICULUM (CREATIVE CURRICULUM) - INCREASED SUPPORT OF STAFF WITH PROVIDING PROFESSIONAL GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES (CDA PROGRAM, TUMMY SAFE, COLLEGE DEGREES)
