PROGRAM SERVICES INCLUDE EDUCATION ABOUT THE HISTORY AND HERITAGE OF OUR COMMUNITY. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH MULTIPLE VENUES INCLUDING FORMAL LECTURES DELIVERED AT THE ANNUAL MEETING AND OFTEN ACCOMPANIED BY THE RELEASE OF PUBLICATIONS, NEWSLETTERS, AND WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK POSTS ON DIVERSE TOPICS PUBLISHED AS INTEREST ARISES; VISITS TO EXPLORE HISTORIC HOMES ACCOMPANIED BY A PUBLISHED HISTORY OF THE PROPERTY AND ITS RECENT PRESERVATION; AND TALKS IN THE SOCIETY'S OFFICES.
DYNAMITE HILL WAS A PROJECT CREATED MANY YEARS WITH A GIFT FROM THE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM TO SUPPORT THE PUBLICATION OF A BOOK ABOUT BIRMINGHAM'S SMITHFIELD NEIGHBORHOOD THAT BECAME THE INTENSE FOCUS OF THE BREAKING OF THE COLOR BARRIERS IN HOUSING AND SCHOOLS. THE PUBLICATION WAS RESEARCHED, PREPARED, PUBLISHED, AND PROMOTED.
SALES OF PUBLICATIONS PRINTED IN PREVIOUS YEARS; VARIOUS EXPENSES TO COMPLETE PUBLICATIONS AND PROJECTS STARTED IN EARLIER YEARS.
