PEER HELPER PROGRAM: PEER-TO-PEER SCHOOL BASED SUPPORT PROGRAM; FOCUSES ON BULLYING, ALCOHOL, DRUGS, SEXUAL PRESSURES, AND FAMILY DYNAMICS WITH THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF SUICIDE PREVENTION.

PROVIDE PEER HELPER SUPPORT PROGRAMS TO APPROX. 50 ELEMENTARY, INTERMEDIATE, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS IN BALDWIN COUNTY, ALABAMA (AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES.) THE PROGRAM HAS APPROXIMATELY 1,400 PEER HELPERS SUPPORTING MORE THAN 33,000 STUDENTS WITH AN EMPHASIS ON HELPING YOUTH DEAL WITH SUICIDE PREVENTION. THE PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR DEPRESSION, ANGER MANAGEMENT, DROPPING OUT OF SCHOOL, PREVENTION OF DRUG OR ALCOHOL INVOLVEMENT, CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND MORE. THE FOUNDATION FUNDS THE SCHOOLS' INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMS, PROVIDES CONFERENCES TO TRAIN THE PROGRAM COORDINATORS, AND PROVIDES A STUDENT CONFERENCE FOR ALL PEER HELPERS.
