OUR MISSION AT ALLEN MEMORIAL IS TO CONTINUE THE HEALING MINISTRY OF CHRIST BY ENHANCING THE QUALITY OF THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY INCLUDING THE RESIDENTS OF ALLEN MEMORIAL HOME AND THOSE WHO SEEK HELP THROUGH CATHOLIC SOCIAL SERVICES OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF MOBILE.

OPERATION OF THE SAINT TERESA OF CALCUTTA ELDERLY SERVICES PROGRAM UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE CATHOLIC SOCIAL SERVICES OF THE MOBILE CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE. TO THIS END ALLEN MEMORIAL HAS PROVIDED FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND DIRECT FUNDING OF THE PROGRAM OF 233,000. DURING THE PAST FISCAL YEAR THE PROGRAM PROVIDED 3,543 DISTINCT SERVICES TO 924 ELDERLY AND DISABLED. THESE INCLUDED BUT WERE NOT LIMITED TO HOME VISTS, ASSISTANCE WITH DOCTOR AND HOSPITAL VISITS, PHONE CALLS, TRANSPORTATION, MOBILITY EQUIPMENT, FOOD, HOLIDAY GIFTS AND OTHER SERVICES.
THE CATHOLIC CEMETERY OF MOBILE, ALABAMA WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1848 BY BISHOP PORTIER, THE FIRST ROMAN CATHOLIC BISHOP OF MOBILE. THE CEMETERY CONTAINS ROUGHLY 18,OOO BURIALS AND IS LISTD ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORICAL PLACES. BECAUSE MUCH OF THE CEMETERY WAS BUILT AND WAS IN USE BEFORE THE ADVENT OF PERPETUAL CARE TRUSTS, THERE HAS BEEN A GROWING DEFICIT AT THE CEMETERY. THIS CEMETERY DOES NOT JUST HAVE HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE. IT CONNECTS THE COMMUNITY TO ITS PAST OFTEN BY THE ELDERS OF OUR COMMUNITY SHARING THE FAMILY HISTORIES AND TRADITIONS OF THOSE BURIED IN THIS CEMETERY. TO THAT END ALLEN MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTED 3,020,913 TO DIRECTLY SUPPORT THE CEMETERY.
