SHOOTING HUNGER IS A SPORTING CLAY EVENT HELD TWICE A YEAR THAT ALLOWS AGRICULTURE AND BUSINESSES IN TENNESSEE TO JOIN TOGETHER TO RAISE FUNDS TO FIGHT HUNGER IN TENNESSEE COMMUNITIES. OVER 170 TEAMS PARTICIPATED IN THE SHOOTING HUNGER SPORTING CLAY EVENTS WHICH HAVE PROVIDED OVER 2 MILLION MEALS TO HUNGRY TENNESSEANS. GRANTS WERE SENT OUT THAT WERE RAISED FOR THE 2021 EVENTS IN THE SPRING OF 2022 THAT TOTALED $251,100 TO 93 COUNTIES IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE.
AGRICULTURE IN THE CLASSROOM HELPS TO IMPROVE AGRICULTURAL LITERACY AMOUNG STUDENTS. AGRICULTURE IN THE CLASSROOM UTILIZES ONLINE RESOURCES, COUNTY FARM DAYS, SCHOOL GARDEN GRANTS, TEACHER RECOGNITION, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO PROMOTE AGRICULTURAL LITERACY IN SCHOOLS ACROSS TENNESSEE.
