Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
TO FACILITATE PROJECTS THAT EMPOWER CITIZENS AND EDUCATE DECISION MAKERS ON ISSUES THAT HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO HARM HUMAN HEALTH OR THE ENVIRONMENT, AND OFFER ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS WHICH ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY JUST AND SUSTAINABLE.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IN 2021, THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED ITS EFFORTS TO EDUCATE CITIZENS, OFFICIALS, AND THE MEDIA ON THE TOXICITY OF FLUORIDE. *** IN JANUARY 2021, THE COURT DENIED A MOTION BY THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY TO DISMISS OUR LANDMARK FLUORIDATION TOXIC SUBSTANCES CONTROL ACT (TSCA) LAWSUIT IN FEDERAL COURT. THE COURT WILL CONTINUE TO HOLD THE TRIAL IN ABEYANCE UNTIL THE FINAL NATIONAL TOXICOLOGY PROGRAM'S (NTP) REPORT IS PUBLISHED. ON FEBRUARY 9, 2021, THE NTP INEXPLICABLY ENDED ITS MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR, FOUR-YEAR WORK ON A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF FLUORIDE'S NEUROTOXICITY. THE TWO DRAFT MONOGRAPHS THEY PUBLISHED HAD THE SAME CONCLUSION: "NTP CONCLUDES THAT FLUORIDE IS PRESUMED TO BE A COGNITIVE NEURO- DEVELOPMENTAL HAZARD TO HUMANS." *** NTP PLANS TO PRODUCE A STATE OF THE SCIENCE REPORT WITHOUT ANY CONCLUSIONS. THE COURT IS AWARE OF THIS AND IS WAITING FOR THE REPORT BEFORE IT MAKES ITS DECISION. *** WE HAVE ENGAGED WITH THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL (CDC) ASKING FOR WARNINGS TO BE ISSUED TO PREGNANT WOMEN AND PARENTS OF FORMULA-FED INFANTS LIVING IN FLUORIDATED AREAS. SINCE 2017, WE LEARNED THAT THE FLUORIDE LEVEL OF 0.7 MG/L, THE "OPTIMAL" LEVEL USED IN U.S. WATER FLUORIDATION PROJECTS, CAN CREATE NEURODEVELOPMENTAL HARM TO THE FETUS, BOTTLE-FED INFANT, AND CHILD. *** DR. ROCHELLE WALENSKY OF THE CDC WAS SENT A LETTER SIGNED BY MORE THAN 100 PROFESSIONALS URGING HER TO SET UP A COMMITTEE AT THE CDC TO EXAMINE NEW SCIENCE ON INFANT AND FETAL NEUROTOXICITY AT DOSES EXPERIENCED IN FLUORIDATED COMMUNITIES AND TAKE URGENT ACTION TO PROTECT THESE VULNERABLE GROUPS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE LETTER WAS SENT TO DR. WALENSKY AND SENIOR CDC STAFF VIA EMAIL IN MAY. HOWEVER, THE CDC CONTINUES TO REMAIN INDIFFERENT TO THIS CRITICAL ISSUE AND IS COMMITTED TO FLUORIDATION ADVOCACY. *** WE MADE PEOPLE AWARE OF THE SIX IQ STUDIES PUBLISHED IN 2021. ONE STUDY FROM CHINA BY REN ET AL. WAS THE THIRD IQ STUDY PUBLISHED ON A DECREASE OF IQ IN ADULTS (ALL OTHER 73 STUDIES FOCUSED ON THE LOSS OF IQ IN CHILDREN). FIVE STUDIES IN 2021 FOUND SUBSTANTIALLY LOWER IQ SCORES AMONG CHILDREN WITH GREATER FLUORIDE EXPOSURE. ONE IQ STUDY WAS FUNDED BY THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SCIENCES. *** WE UPDATE OUR WEBSITE - HTTPS://FLUORIDEALERT.ORG/ - WITH NEWS ARTICLES, STUDIES OF TOXICITY, AND GOVERNMENT REPORTS ON A DAILY BASIS.
