SERVANT GROUP INTERNATIONAL (SGI) IS A NON-PROFIT CHRISTIAN AGENCY SERVING AMONG AT-RISK AND REFUGEE COMMUNITIES IN NEED.

IN IRAQ, SGI OFFERS EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE COUNTRY. PRIMARY ACTIVITIES INCLUDE TEACHING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A CHRISTIAN K-12 CURRICULUM USED TO SERVE APPROXIMATELY 2500 STUDENTS ENROLLED IN (3) SCHOOLS KNOWN AS THE SCHOOL OF THE MEDES. STAFF ALSO SERVE FAMILIES IN THEIR LOCAL NEIGHBORHOODS THROUGH AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS, CHURCH ACTIVITIES, AND TRAINING PROGRAMS. THERE IS ALSO AN ONGOING CHURCH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY OUR NATIONAL PARTNER. IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID CRISIS IN N. IRAQ, SGI HAS CONTINUED TO SUPPORT A NUMBER OF RELIEF PROGRAMS TO NEEDY POPULATIONS, AND A BENEVOLENCE NETWORK HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED TO HELP CHRISTIANS. SGI ALSO SUPPORTS AN ORPHANAGE IN THE KURDISH REGION OF IRAQ
NASHVILLE, TN, IS HOME TO THOUSANDS OF REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS FROM THE MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA. SGI IS ABLE TO PROVIDE TRANSLATION SERVICES, CITIZENSHIP INSTRUCTION, JOB PLACEMENT, MEDICAL HELP, FOOD AND OTHER BENEVOLENCE, ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING CLASSES AND TUTORING, URBAN GARDENING, AND SEWING INSTRUCTION TO NUMEROUS REFUGEES. TRAINING AND EQUIPPING AMERICAN VOLUNTEERS TO REACH OUT TO THEIR REFUGEE NEIGHBORS IS A PRIMARY TASK OF LOCAL STAFF MEMBERS. WITH THE HELP OF 115 VOLUNTEERS AND 11 EMPLOYEES, SGI WAS ABLE TO GROW OUR SCOPE OF SERVICES AND PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO APPROXIMATELY 300 UNIQUE REFUGEES. NASHVILLE-BASED OUTREACH PROGRAMS DURING COVID INCLUDED DISTRIBUTING OVER 6,000 POUNDS OF PRODUCE THROUGHOUT THE REFUGEE COMMUNITY; HELPING NUMEROUS UNEMPLOYED REFUGEE FAMILIES WITH RENT/UTILITIES/TOILETRIES; HELPING SECURE JOBS FOR 13 SEWING GRADUATES; AND HOSTING SEVERAL SUMMER CAMPS FOR TEENS (SEWING AND RUBIK'S CUBE).
IN RESPONSE TO THE ONGOING REFUGEE AND COVID CRISES IN THE WORLD, SGI SUPPORTS TEAMS TO DISTRIBUTE FOOD AND OTHER SUPPLIES TO NEEDY FAMILIES IN N. IRAQ, TURKEY, AND AUSTRIA THROUGH THE LOCAL CHURCH. SEVERAL CHRISTIAN CONFERENCES AND PASTORAL SUPPORT WERE FUNDED AMONG REFUGEE POPULATIONS IN TURKEY. IN AFRICA, WE ASSIST SEVERAL INDEGENOUS WORKERS IN CARING FOR MINORITY CHURCH MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND DOING OUTREACH INTO REFUGEE CAMPS. STARTUP RESOURCES WERE PROVIDED FOR SUSTAINABLE AFRICAN COMMUNITIES AND ONGOING SUPPORT WAS GIVEN FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT IN MALAWI.
