THE VALOR AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP FUND WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1989 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING AND MANAGING A SCHOLARSHIP FUND, WHICH PROVIDES POST-SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL GRANTS TO THE CHILDREN OF MEDAL OF VALOR RECIPIENTS. THE CHILDREN OF THE NEARLY 450 POLICE OFFICERS, FIREFIGHTERS, AND SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES WHO HAVE RECEIVED MEDALS OF VALOR FOR THEIR HEROIC ACTS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE SCHOLARSHIPS. DURING THE NEXT FIVE YEARS THE VALOR FUND HOPES TO DISTRIBUTE MORE THAN $50,000 IN POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION GRANTS.
