THE LINKS INCORPORATED IS A VOLUNTEER SERVICE ORGANIZATION OF CONCERNED WOMEN. OUR GOAL IS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS, BY PROVIDING PROGRAMS THAT FOCUS ON CULTURAL ENRICHMENT, HEALTH AND WELLNESS, SUPPORTING UNDER-SERVED COMMUNITIES AND SUPPORTING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS.

THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO COLLEGE BOUND HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS ALONG WITH STUDENT-TUTOR MENTORS. EACH YEAR, BUCKS COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS ARE INVITED TO APPLY FOR THE LINKS SCHOLARSHIP, A $1000 TO $2,000 RENEWABLE SCHOLARSHIP, FOR UP TO FOUR YEARS. A SELECTION COMMITTEE REVIEWS THE APPLICATIONS FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS, COMMUNITY SERVICE, AND LEADERSHIP. IN THE CURRENT PROGRAM YEAR, THE CHAPTER AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS TO BUCKS COUNTY STUDENTS ATTENDING COLLEGE IN THE USA. THE CHAPTER SUPPORTS COLLEGE STUDENTS OF THE KUNTU VILLAGE IN GHANA, WEST AFRICA BY FUNDING TUITION/BOARDING. KUNTU VILLAGE IS A SMALL IMPOVERISHED VILLAGE WITH AN UNEMPLOYMENT AND ILLITERACY RATE OF APPROXIMATELY 90%. UNDER OUR INTERNATIONAL TRENDS AND SERVICES FACET, THE BUCKS COUNTY CHAPTER PARTNERS WITH THE KUNTU VILLAGE NKOSOHEN COMMITTEE TO PROVIDE TUITION SUPPORT, SUPPLIES, TUTORING AND CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT.
OUR SERVICES TO YOUTH/COUNCIL PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO EMPOWER AND IMPACT YOUTH, ESPECIALLY OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY YOUTH. THE TEENS PARTICIPATE IN EDUCATION, CIVIC, AND CULTURAL PROGRAMS FROM SEPTEMBER TO JUNE, ANNUALLY. PARTICIPANTS ATTEND FROM AGES 13-18. WORKSHOPS AND SPEAKERS COVER TOPICS RELATED TO THEIR NEEDS, INCLUDING COLLEGE PREPARATORY SUPPORT. THE CONTENT COVERS VARIOUS AREAS INCLUDING: WORKSHOPS, INFORMATIONAL CAREER SESSIONS, FINANCIAL GAMES, AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT FOCUS SPEAKERS. OUR HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AND ARTS AND INTERNATIONAL TRENDS AND SERVICES FACETS SEEK TO EDUCATE, EXPOSE AND SUPPORT DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES AND LOW FUNDED SCHOOLS. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, OUR YOUTH INITIATIVES SUCCESSFULLY MIGRATED TO A VIRTUAL PLATFORM.
OUR CHARITABLE GIVING PROGRAMS PROVIDE FOR THANKSGIVING AND HOLIDAY MEALS, TOYS, AND CLOTHING TO THOSE IN NEED IN OUR COMMUNITY. AS PART OF OUR MLK DAY OF SERVICE, THE ORGANIZATION PARTNERS WITH OTHER VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO COLLECT AND DISTRIBUTE DONATED ITEMS TO SHELTERS, FAMILIES AND THE ELDERLY. WE PROVIDE BREAKFAST FOR THE HOMELESS, BLANKETS FOR SHELTERS, MEALS FOR THE ELDERLY, AND EDUCATIONAL SUPPLIES FOR CHILDREN IN UNDERFUNDED SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
