OUR GUILD HAS MANY ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEAR. ON A MONTHLY BASIS WE HAVE OUR COMMITTEE REPORTS, EDUCATION CLASSES, DRAWINGS, CONTESTS, 50/50 DRAWING, SHOW AND TELL, AND SALES OF TICKETS FOR OUR OPPORTUNITY QUILT.OTHER ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEAR INCLUDE OUR CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON, OUR QUILT RETREAT AND NOW THIS YEAR THREE SMALL 3 DAY RETREATS FOR OUR MEMBERS TO LEARN AND SHARE WITH EACH OTHER. WE ALSO HAVE FABRIC EXCHANGES, LECTURES, TRUNK SHOWS, CLASSES, CHARITY WORKSHOPS AND MONTHLY WORKSHOPS TO MAKE QUILTS FOR OUR VETERANS. WE ARE PART OF THE NATIONAL QUILTS OF VALOR PROGRAM. WE HAVE NATIONALLY KNOWN INSTRUCTORS COME TO LECTURE AND TEACH SO THAT WE MAY CONTINUE TO EDUCATE, GROW AND FLOURISH. THIS YEAR WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH THREE LOCAL LIBRARIES TO PROVIDE A BOOK AND QUILT FOR STORYTIME FOR YOUNG QUILTERS TO BE.WE WILL BE HAVING A TEA PARTY FOR MEMBERS AND FRIENDS. WE WILL HAVE 50/50 BASKETS TO RAFFLE, A FASHION SHOW, A HAT CONTEST AND DOORPRIZES. WE HAVE DRAWN THE WINNING TICKET FOR OUR OPPORTUNITY QUILT AND ALL PROCEEDS ARE DONATED TO THE LOCAL CHARITY WE HAVE CHOSEN FOR THE YEAR. THEY WILL GO TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, VETERANS HOUSING INITIATIVE PRESERVATION AND REPAIR, LAKE-SUMTER, FL.THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WE DONATE OUR CHARITY QUILTS LOCALLY AND WHEREVER THERE MIGHT BE A NEED. THIS YEAR OUR MEMBERS TURNED IN 251 QUILTS TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO CHARITIES. OUR CHARITIES INCLUDED EPISCOPAL CHILDRENS SERVICES, FL HOMETOWN USA PROGRAM, LAKE-SUMTER CHILDRENS ADVOCACY, LEESBURG FOOD BANK, LAKE-SUMTER FAMILIES, LUV EXTENSION, AND KIDS CENTRAL.WE PRESENTED OVER 22 QUILTS OF VALOR TO HONOR OR LOCAL VETERANS. A QOV IS A CITIZENS' EQUILVALENT OF A PURPLE HEART.WE ALWAYS GIVE A GENEROUS DONATION OF CASH AND CANNED GOODS TO THE LEESBURG FOOD BANK. THIS YEAR WE WERE FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO GIVE CASH DONATIONS TO FORWARD PATHS, MASONIC LODGE, FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF LEESBURG, DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS, HANDS OF MERCY EVERYWHERE, ANIMAL SHELTER OF LAKE COUNTY, BEYOND THE WALLS, HUMANE SOCIETY OF LAKE COUNTY, LEESBURG FOOD BANK, A FOREVER HOME FOR ANIMALS, AND CHRISTIAN CARE CENTER. OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS WE HAVE CONTINUED TO GROW INTO A GUILD THAT IS CURRENTLY ACTIVE IN SUPPORTING OVER 20 CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS.
