THE AMERICAN LEGION WAS CHARTERED AND INCORPORATED BY CONGRESS IN 1919 AS A PATRIOTIC VETERANS ORGANIZATION DEVOTED TO MUTUAL HELPFULNESS. IT IS THE NATIONS LARGEST WARTIME VETERANS SERVICE ORGANIZATION, COMMITTED TO MENTORING YOUTH AND SPONSORSHIP OF WHOLESOME PROGRAMS IN OUR COMMUNITIES, ADVOCATING PATRIOTISM AND HONOR, PROMOTING STRONG NATIONAL SECURITY, AND CONTINUED DEVOTION TO OUR FELLOW SERVICEMEMBERS AND VETERANS.

PROVIDE FELLOWSHIP FOR AMERICAN VETERANS.


THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES SOCIAL AND CIVIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR ITS MEMBERS AS WELL AS CHARITABLE SUPPORT OF THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY. MEMBERS INCLUDE PRESENT AND FORMER MEMBERS OF THE U.S. ARMED SERVICES AND THEIR FAMILIES. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH PROVIDING RECREATIONAL AND SOCIAL FACILITIES INCLUDING THE PROVISION OF FOOD, DRINK, AND ENTERTAINMENT. ALSO, THE SOCIAL FUNCTION INCLUDES SUPPORTING VARIOUS CHARITABLE AND CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS.
