IN FY 2022, KEEP ALACHUA COUNTY BEAUTIFUL EXECUTED THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS: RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS FOR COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS; PROVIDING ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION TO YOUTHS AND ADULTS; AND TRAINING COLLEGE STUDENTS FOR CAREERS IN THE NONPROFIT SECTOR, ESPECIALLY PROMOTING SUSTAINABILITY. THE COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMS INCLUDED: THE GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP; COMMUNITY GARDENS; "BEAUTIFUL BLOCK" PROJECTS TO PROMOTE NEIGHBORHOOD SELF-SUFFICIENCY; COMMUNITY OUTREACH TO EDUCATE RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES ABOUT LITTER PREVENTION AND RECYCLING; AND BEAUTIFICATION PROJECTS INCLUDING THE PLANTING OF TREES AND POLLINATOR PLANTS, THE REMOVAL OF GRAFFITI AND INVASIVE PLANTS, AND LANDSCAPING. UNDER THE THE GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP, A KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL TRADEMARKED PROGRAM FOR LITTER CLEANUP AND ERADICATION OF BLIGHT, KACB HOSTED 481 EVENTS ENGAGING 6,917 VOLUNTEERS WHO PICKED UP 382,947 POUNDS OF TRASH AND RECYCLABLE MATERIALS. AN AVERAGE OF FIVE INTERNS EACH SEMESTER RECEIVED 5 TO 10 HOURS OF TRAINING EACH WEEK IN FINANCE, COMMUNICATIONS, DATA MANAGEMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION, EVENT MANAGEMENT, AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZING KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS.
