A COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION THAT IS DRIVEN BY THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY WHOSE MISSION IS TO PROMOTE, SPONSOR AND ENCOURAGE ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS TO BENEFIT THE OLDER POPULATION IN THE CENTRAL FLORIDA COMMUNITY THROUGH THE ENGAGEMENT OF OLDER ADULTS IN VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES. THIS INCLUDES THE TRAINING, EDUCATION AND PREPARATION OF VOLUNTEERS.

THE FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM IS A DUAL FOCUSED INTERGENERATIONAL PROGRAM THAT RECRUITS, SCREENS AND TRAINS LIMITED INCOME SENIOR VOLUNTEERS TO SERVE CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL OR EXCEPTIONAL NEEDS. FOSTER GRANDPARENTS RECEIVE A SMALL NON-TAXABLE STIPEND TO HELP OFFSET THE COSTS OF VOLUNTEERING. THE CHILDREN BENEFIT FROM THE ONE-ON-ONE ATTENTION GIVEN BY THE FOSTER GRANDPARENT VOLUNTEER TO ASSIST THE CHILD WITH DEVELOPMENTAL, ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL DEFICITS. APPROX. 294,289 HOURS OF SERVICE ARE PROVIDED.
THE RETIRED & SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM ENGAGES PERSONS 55 AND OLDER IN VOLUNTEER SERVICE TO MEET CRITICAL COMMUNITY NEEDS AND TO PROVIDE A HIGH QUALITY EXPERIENCE THAT WILL ENRICH THE LIVES OF VOLUNTEERS. RSVP'S GOAL IS TO PROMOTE THE UTILIZATION OF OLDER PERSONS AS COMMUNITY RESOURCES THROUGH VOLUNTEERING THEIR YEARS OF EXPERIENCE TO ORGANIZATIONS WITH SPECIFIC NEEDS THAT, WHEN MET, WILL HAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY. APPROXIMATELY 28,081 HOURS OF SERVICE ARE PROVIDED.
