THE MISSION OF THE DECATUR EDUCATION FOUNDATION IS TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS THAT HELP DECATUR'S KIDS FIND SUCCESS BY CONNECTING PEOPLE, RESOURCES, AND IDEAS. CENTRAL TO THIS WORK IS A COMMITMENT TO ERADICATING BARRIERS CAUSED BY SYSTEMIC RACISM, INCOME INEQUALITY, AND THE LACK OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SUPPORTS.THE ORGANIZATION SERVES THE YOUTH OF DECATUR BY:- REMOVING OBSTACLES THAT IMPEDE LEARNING FOR OUR KIDS (POVERTY, LEARNING DIFFERENCES, ABILITIES, MENTAL HEALTH, LIFE CHALLENGES) SO THAT ALL OUR KIDS CAN FIND SUCCESS IN SCHOOL AND LIFE- PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES THAT ACCELERATE AND DEEPEN LEARNING AND EMPOWER DECATURS KIDS TO MAKE A POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION ON OUR WORLD (ARTS, LEADERSHIP, SERVICE)- SUPPORTING TEACHERS AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO ENSURE THAT OUR KIDS HAVE ENGAGING, MEANINGFUL CLASSROOM EXPERIENCES - STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY PROGRAMS TO EXTEND OUR CAPACITY TO PROVIDE GREAT EXPERIENCES FOR DECATURS KIDSBECAUSE WITH THE SUPPORT OF THEIR COMMUNITY, EVERY CHILD CAN REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL
