COMMUNITY SCHOOLS EXISTS IN ORDER TO PLACE THE SCHOOL AT THE CENTER OF BEING A CATALYST FOR ENHANCING STUDENT LEARNING AND ACHIEVING A HEALTHY COMMUNITY. THE STRATEGY'S 3 MAIN GOALS ARE TO MAXIMIZE STUDENT LEARNING, OPTIMIZE HEALTH & WELL-BEING, AND CREATE LONG-TERM SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS, FAMILIES, SCHOOLS, AND NEIGHBORHOODS. COMMUNITY SCHOOLS COLLABORATES WITH OVER 275 PARTNERS TO SUPPORT THESE GOALS THROUGH THE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS' PILLARS OF SHARED COLLABORATIVE LEADERSHIP, EXPANDED ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES, FAMILY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, AND INTEGRATED STUDENT SUPPORT.
PROJECT GRAD KNOXVILLE IS A SCHOOL-EMBEDDED PROGRAM AT AUSTIN-EAST AND FULTON HIGH SCHOOLS THAT OFFERS DIRECT SUPPORT, INTERVENTIONS, TOOLS, OPPORTUNITIES, AND COACHING. A 4,000 SCHOLARSHIP IS EARNED BY QUALIFYING STUDENTS WHO ENROLL IN ACCREDITED POSTSECONDARY INSTITUTIONS. GRAD PROVIDES ACCESS TO RESOURCES, EXPERIENCES, AND GUIDANCE THAT WILL CONTRIBUE TO INCREASED HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION RATES, POSTSECONDARY ENROLLMENT AND COMPLETION, ADDRESSING OBSTACLES ALONG THE WAY. INTENTIONAL FOCUS IS GIVEN TO STUDENTS FROM DISADVANTAGED CIRCUMSTANCES, FROM COMMUNITIES OF CONCENTRATED CHALLENGES, AND THOSE UNDERREPRESENTED IN HIGHER EDUCATION.
SPECIAL PROJECTS CONTAINS INITIATIVES AND PROGRAMS THAT ARE PILOTS TO EVALUATE LONG TERM VIABILITY AND IMPACT. THESE SPECIAL PROJECTS FOCUS ON FOUNDATIONAL ACADEMIC SKILLS, EFFECTIVE EDUCATORS, PATHWAYS AND PIPELINES, AND SUCCESS FOR ALL STUDENTS.
