EMYI EASTLAKE MALE YOUTH INITIATIVE IS A 9-MONTH LEADERSHIP AND MENTORING PROGRAN FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN MALES AGED 10-16 AND RESIDING PRIMARILY IN DEKALB COUNTY ITS GOAL IS TO DEVELOP YOUNG MEN TO BE THE NEXT GENERATION OF COMMUNITY LEADERS, HIGH ACHIEVERS AND PURVEYOURS OF EXCELLENCE. THIS PROGRAM IS A JOINT PARTNERSHIP BETWEEK THE GROVE CDC, INC., THE GREATER PINEY GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH AND TRUTH TELLERS, INC. THE GROVE CDC CURRENTLY SERVES AS ITS FIDUCIARY AGENT. FOR 2020, 22 YOUNG MEN WERE ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM.
IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2020, THE LOVE CENTER TLC FOOD PANTRY SERVED APPROXIMATELY 576 HOUSEHOLDS WITH 18,977 POUNDS OF FOOD. DUE TO THE PANDEMICE THE CNTER WAS CLOSED BUT WAS ABLE TO SERVE 553 ADDITIONAL FAMILIES WITH 22268 POUNDS OF FOOD THROUGH 2 MOBILE PANTRIES HELD IN AUGUST AND OCTOBER 2020
