THE GANDHI INSTITUTE PRIORITIZES SUPPORT ON PEOPLE AGES 12-24 AND THOSE WHO SERVE YOUTH. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE LECTURES, WORKSHOPS, AND COURSES ON NONVIOLENCE, INCLUDING NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION AND RESTORATIVE PRACTICES IN AREA SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES RELATING TO OUR WORK WITH THE ROCHESTER CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT (RCSD) INCLUDE THE FACILITATION OF A CLIMATE OF PEACE IN EACH SCHOOL WHERE WE ARE PRESENT; COLLABORATE TO CAUSE SYSTEMIC CHANGE IN BUILDINGS ACROSS THE RCSD; SUPPORT FOR THE STAFF AND STUDENTS IN SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION; COLLECT AND ANALYZE DATA TO CREATE AND REPLICATE BEST PRACTICES.(CONTINUED ON SCH O)ADDITIONALLY, THE INSTITUTE CREATES AND SUPPORTS COMMUNITY PROJECTS TO EDUCATE AND IMPROVE HEALTH THROUGH PLANTING COMMUNITY GARDENS, CONTRIBUTING TO URBAN AGRICULTURE POLICY AND PROJECTS FOR THE CITY, AND ORGANIZING COMMUNITY-WIDE EVENTS RELATED TO FOOD AND HUNGER.
