THE MISSION OF THE UNITED WAY OF CHATHAM COUNTY IS TO INCREASE THE FINANCIAL AND HUMAN RESOURCES AVAILABLE FOR PROVIDING HUMAN SERVICE PROGRAMS THAT ADDRESS THE MOST CRITICAL NEEDS OF COUNTY RESIDENTS.

AGENCY ALLOCATIONS: THE ORGANIZATION PERFORMS AN ANNUAL FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN, A COMPREHENSIVE PROPOSAL REVIEW AND AN ALLOCATION PROCESS TO SUPPORT LOCAL NONPROFIT AGENCIES THAT PROVIDE HUMAN SERVICES TO COUNTY RESIDENTS. THE FUNDING AREAS OF FOCUS ARE: ASSISTING WITH BASIC NEEDS, NURTURING YOUTH & FAMILY AND STRENGTHENING THE COMMUNITY. USING THE UNITED WAY COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT AS A GUIDE, EVALUATION VOLUNTEERS IDENTIFY PRIORITY NEEDS IN THE COUNTY AND THEN ALLOCATE THE FUNDS TO ADDRESS THOSE NEEDS. ALL MEMBER AGENCIES ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT PROJECT PROPOSALS TO TACKLE THE MOST PRESSING PROBLEMS OF THE AREA ON AN ANNUAL BASIS AND THEN REPORT MEASURABLE OUTCOMES OF THEIR PROGRAMS AT THE END OF EACH FUNDING YEAR.
COMMUNITY INITIATIVES: THE ORGANIZATION SERVES AS LEAD CONVENER FOR THE GOVERNOR'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARDS PROGRAM. OTHER INITIATIVES INCLUDE PARTICIPATION IN THE HEALTHY CHATHAM STEERING COMMITTEE, SILER CITY ROTARY CLUB, CHATHAM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, AND CHATHAM ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES. THE UNITED WAY OF CHATHAM COUNTY ALSO FUNDS SPECIAL PROJECTS THROUGH INTEREST EARNED BY ITS ENDOWMENT FUND ON AN ANNUAL BASIS.
