WE TRANSLATE THE SCIENCE OF EVERYDAY LIVING FOR FAMILIES, FARMERS AND COMMUNITIES TO FOSTER A HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS GEORGIA. THIS INCLUDES 4-H DEVELOPMENT, AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES, AND FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE.

1328 PLUS MEMBERS ENROLLED IN WALKER COUNTY 4-H, 56 CLUBS ARE ARRANGED AROUND THE COMMUNITY WITH STAFF MEMBERS LEADING, 718 5TH STUDENTS ARE TAKING PART IN A SIX MONTH 4-H PROGRAM FOCUSING ON LANGUAGE ARTS AND SCIENCE CURRICULUM, 411 6TH-8TH GRADERS FOCUSING ON ELA/WILDLIFE/FINANCIAL LITERACY/LIFE SKILLS CURRICULUM AND 157 4TH GRADERS FOCUSING ON ELA AND CIVIC EDUCATION CURRICULUM COMPLIMENTING GEORGIA PERFORMANCE STANDARDS. SPECIALTY COMMUNITY-BASED CLUBS MET THE REMAINING 1ST-12TH GRADE YOUTH INCLUDED STEM, COMMUNITY SERVICE AND TEAMBUILDING ACTIVITIES AS WELL AS A NEW ENGINEERING/ROBOTICS CLUB.1286 WERE TAUGHT RESEARCH WRITING A SPEECH AND PRESENTING A DEMONSTRATION IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE. 761 4TH-6TH GRADE STUDENTS PRESENTED DEMONSTRATIONS IN LOCAL-BASED COMPETITION. IN FEBRUARY-MARCH, 87 CHOSE TO COMPETE AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL. 2 STUDENTS SUBMITTED WRITTEN PORTFOLIOS OF WORK AND SKILLS LEARNED AND PRESENTED A 10-12 MINUTE SPEECH AT THE DISTRICT MIDDLE SCHOOL COMPETITION. 53 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN LOCAL, DISTRICT AND STATE LIVESTOCK EVENTS INCLUDING HEIFER, GOAT, DOE, HOG AND POULTRY SHOWING COMPETITIONS. 15 PARTICIPATED IN GROWING WATERMELONS OR PUMPKINS FOR COMPETITION. 35 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN SUMMER PROGRAMS. 17 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN 4-H JUDGING COMPETITION TEAMS. 27 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN SHOOTING SPORTS AND ROBOTICS COMPETITION TEAMS.PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE VIA 145 IN OFFICE CONTACTS; MADE 40 SITE VISITS REACHING 74 CONTACTS; PROVIDED PHONE ASSISTANCE TO 734 CONTACTS; MADE 52 DIAGNOSTIC SAMPLE IDENTIFICATIONS; PROVIDED 478 SOIL, FEED, FORAGE, WATER, ANIMAL WASTE, TESTING SERVICES; RECORDED OVER 200 MINUTES OF EXTENSION RADIO PROGRAMMING.
