SHELTER SERVICES - DURING OUR FISCAL YEAR WHICH ENDED SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2021, THE ATLANTA HUMANE SOCIETY PROVIDED OVER 84,000 ANIMAL CARE SERVICES TO HOMELESS PETS IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE LAUNCHED A TRAP/NEUTER/RETURN PROGRAM FOR FERAL CATS AND EXTENDED OUR SHELTER MEDICINE SURGERY SERVICES TO OTHER ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANIZATIONS WHO LACK THE APPROPRIATE RESOURCES. DURING THIS TIME, OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH TEAM DISTRIBUTED 274,990 POUNDS OF FOOD THROUGHOUT GEORGIA TO ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANIZATIONS AND LOCAL HUMAN SERVICE GROUPS. ATLANTA HUMANE SOCIETY ALSO PROVIDED LIFE-SAVING CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS AND PROCESS CONSULTATIONS TO 10 UNDER-RESOURCED GEORGIA ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANIZATIONS.
VETERINARY CENTER - ATLANTA HUMANE SOCIETY OPERATES A VETERINARY HOSPITAL THAT PROVIDES OUR COMMUNITY WITH ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE, TRANSPARENTLY PRICED SERVICES THAT ADDRESS ALL ESSENTIAL ASPECTS OF A PET'S HEALTH. FROM PREVENTATIVE WELLNESS AND SPAY/NEUTER TO HEARTWORM TREATMENT AND DENTAL SURGERY, THE VETERINARY CENTER PROVIDED OVER 8,600 PETS WITH 25,000 AFFORDABLE MEDICAL CARE SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING ON SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2021.
COMMUNITY AND EDUCATION SERVICES - ATLANTA HUMANE SOCIETY HAS A DEDICATED RESOURCE CENTER FOCUSED ON EDUCATING AND CONNECTING THE COMMUNITY TO PROGRAMS THAT SUPPORT THE PROPER CARE AND TREATMENT OF ANIMALS. DURING OUR FISCAL YEAR WHICH ENDED SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2021, OUR RESOURCE CENTER PROVIDED THE COMMUNITY WITH NEARLY 19,000 CONNECTIONS TO LIFE-SAVING ANIMAL SERVICES LIKE SPAY/NEUTER, ANIMAL ADOPTION, AND VETERINARY APPOINTMENTS. ATLANTA HUMANE SOCIETY ALSO STRIVES TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS FOR THE HUMANE TREATMENT OF ANIMALS THROUGH MULTIPLE COMMUNICATION CHANNELS INCLUDING AN ANNUAL TELETHON EVENT.
