SENIOR CENTERS -- DORCHESTER SENIORS, INC. OPERATES TWO SENIOR CITIZENS CENTERS IN DORCHESTER COUNTY. THE FAITH SELLERS SENIOR CENTER IS LOCATED IN SUMMERVILLE AND THE DAVID SOJOURNER SENIOR CENTER IS LOCATED IN ST. GEORGE. MEMBERS MUST BE 50 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER. THE CENTER MEMBERSHIPS ARE FREE TO ANY DORCHESTER COUNTY RESIDENTS, OUT OF COUNTY RESIDENTS PAY A SMALL YEARLY FEE. ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS AT THE SENIOR CENTERS INCLUDE PHYSICAL FITNESS, EDUCATION, ARTS/CRAFTS, TRIPS AND TOURS AND NUMEROUS SOCIAL EVENTS.
HOME DELIVERED MEALS -- HOME DELIVERED MEALS ARE OFFERED MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, EXCLUDING HOLIDAYS. DORCHESTER SENIORS, INC. DOES RECEIVE FUNDING TO OFFER HOME DELIVERED MEALS AT NO COST TO A LIMITED NUMBER OF FRAIL, HOMEBOUND CLIENTS WHO ARE 60 YEARS OR OLDER. CLIENTS MAY ALSO RECEIVE HOME DELIVERED MEALS ON A PRIVATE PAY BASIS.
TRANSPORTATION -- DORCHESTER SENIORS, INC. ALSO OPERATES SEVERAL 15 PASSENGER VANS/BUSES WHICH PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION TO THE SENIOR CENTERS FOR THE CONGREGATE MEAL PROGRAMS AND FOR CENTER ACTIVITIES.
CONGREGATE MEALS -- NOON MEALS ARE AVAILABLE AT BOTH CENTERS IN A CONGREGATE OR GROUP SETTING. THE MEAL SETTING PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AS WELL AS ALL THE ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS THE SENIOR CENTERS HAVE TO OFFER. DORCHESTER SENIORS, INC. DOES RECEIVE FUNDING TO OFFER CONGREGATE MEALS TO A LIMITED NUMBER OF CLIENTS 60 YEARS AND OLDER WHO ARE IN NEED. PERSONS MAY PAY PRIVATELY FOR A MEAL TO EAT IN THE CONGREGATE SETTING.
