URU HAD TO DOWNSIZE WHEN COVID-19 HIT, WE WERE ABLE TO ADAPT AND DIRECT OUR ATTENTION TO THE VIRTUAL SPACE AND COVID-19 RISK COMMUNICATION MESSAGING. IN FEBRUARY OF 2020, OUR CEO WAS INVITED TO PRESENT AT AN EMERGING RESEARCH EVENT AAAS. OVER A THREE-DAY PERIOD CRYSTAL EMERY AND OTHER URU TEAM MEMBERS SPOKE AND INTERFACED WITH OVER 5,000 STEM PROFESSIONALS AND EDUCATORS. URU PRODUCED A VIRTUAL SCREENING OF DEADLIEST DISEASE ABOUT RACISM IN AMERICA WITH A PANEL OF DISTINGUISHED GUESTS SUCH AS, CAMARA JONES, MD, MPH, PH.D, THOMAS LAVEIST, PH.D, MARC MORIAL, JD PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE, ANA OLIVEIRA, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF NEW YORK WOMENS FOUNDATION AND SHIRLEY MALCOM, PHD SENIOR ADVISOR OF THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE. URU PRODUCED OVER 70 VIDEOS THAT WERE UTILIZED BY OVER 50 ORGANIZATIONS AROUND COVID-19 RISK AND THE 3 WS WASH, WEAR, WAIT. THEY INCLUDED MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, ACTORS, ATHLETHES AND LAYMEN. ON SEPTEMBER 24TH, 2020, WE PRODUCED A HISTORIC EVENT THE SURGEONS GENERAL ROUND TABLE. FIVE FORMER SURGEON GENERALS: DR. RICHARD CARMONA, DR. JOYCELYN ELDERS, DR. VIVEK MURTHY, DR. ANTONIA NOVELLO, AND DR. DAVID SATCHER CAME TOGETHER VIRTUALLY TO DISCUSS COVID-19 WITH A VIRTUAL AUDIENCE OF OVER 3,000 PEOPLE. THROUGH A NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION GRANT, URU PRODUCED BUILDING BRIDGES: THE POWER OF THE SISTERHOOD. THIS WEEKEND CONFERENCE WAS ATTENDED BY OVER 100 WOMEN IN STEM RELATED FIELDS.
IN 2021 URU, THE RIGHT TO BE, INC. MADE GREAT STRIDES IN FOSTERING COMMUNICATION ANDUNDERSTANDING AMONG DIVERSE PEOPLE. FROM CREATING AND ROLLING OUT RISK COMMUNICATION TOPARTNERING WITH OUR CEO AND FOUNDER TO RELEASE A FILM THAT WOULD BRING AWARENESS ANDACCOUNTABILITY TO COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE NATION.AT THE TOP OF THE YEAR URU, THE RIGHT TO BE, INC. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH WOMEN IN ENGINEERINGPROACTIVE NETWORK AND THE UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI HOSTED AN EVENT ENTITLED BUILDINGBRIDGES: THE POWER OF SISTERHOOD. THE MODERATORS AND SESSION FACILITATORS BROUGHT WOMENFROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE TOGETHER IN AN EFFORT TO SHOW THEM THE IMPORTANCE OF SUPPORTING ONEANOTHER, LIFTING EACH OTHER UP, AND REALIZING THE POWER OF COLLECTIVE GAIN. IN THE SESSIONSTHESE WOMEN WERE ABLE TO HAVE THE HARD CONVERSATIONS ABOUT INEQUITIES AND SOCIALINJUSTICES THAT WOMEN ARE FALLING VICTIM TO EVERYWHERE. THEY WERE GIVEN THE SPACE TO ALSODISCUSS WAYS TO COMBAT THE PATRIARCHY, SEXISM, AND RACISM THAT ARE CAUSING THESE GRIEVANCES SO WHEN ENTERING BACK INTO THE REAL WORLD, THEY HAD PRACTICAL TOOLS TO EFFECT CHANGE.SHORTLY FOLLOWING THIS OUR COUNTRY WAS HIT WITH A PANDEMIC UNLIKE ANYTHING WEVE EVERSEEN. URU, THE RIGHT TO BE, INC. STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE TO HELP MINIMIZE THE IMPACT OF THISVIRUS, COVID-19, AND BRING AWARENESS TO THE COMMUNITY ON WHAT WE COULD ALL DO TO HELP ONEANOTHER. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, URU LAUNCHED THEIR OURHUMANITY PROJECT WHICH WAS DESIGNED TO INCREASE UNDERSTANDING AND KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THEIMPORTANCE OF COVID-19 VACCINATIONS, DISPEL MISINFORMATION, AND INCREASE VACCINATIONRATES IN BLACK AND HISPANIC COMMUNITIES THROUGH EDUCATION OUTREACH AND A NATIONWIDE,CULTURALLY TAILORED, RISK COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN.
