CONSTRUCTION SERVICES: IN FISCAL YEAR 2023, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CORPORATIONS, FOUNDATIONS, FAITH ORGANIZATIONS, CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS, AND INDIVIDUALS, HABITAT GREENSBORO SOLD FOUR HOMES TO LOW-INCOME FAMILIES UTILIZING AFFORDABLE MORTGAGES WITH PAYMENTS TOTALING 30% OR LESS OF THEIR INCOMES. SINCE FAMILIES PAY THE FULL COST FOR HABITAT HOMES AND ALL FUTURE MAINTENANCE, HABITAT GREENSBORO IS COMMITTED TO BUILDING AFFORDABLE, HIGH-QUALITY, ENERGY-EFFICIENT, AND SUSTAINABLE HOUSES THAT FAMILIES ARE PROUD TO CALL HOME. HABITAT GREENSBORO'S NEW HOMES MEET ENERGY STAR GUIDELINES ESTABLISHED BY THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY AND THE NATIONAL GREEN BUILD STANDARD ENDORSED BY THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF HOME BUILDERS.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES: THIS PROGRAM RECRUITS AND TRAINS VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF HOMES, ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIVITIES IN OUR OFFICE, RETAIL TASKS IN THE RESTORE, LUNCH MINISTRY, AND INTERNATIONAL MISSION TRIPS.
RESTORE SERVICES: HABITAT GREENSBORO'S RESTORE EXISTS TO PROVIDE REVENUE TO SUPPORT OUR AFFORDABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP MISSION AND TO PROVIDE HOME FURNISHINGS, APPLIANCES, BUILDING MATERIALS, AND OTHER ITEMS TO OUR HOMEOWNERS AND THE PUBLIC AT A SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED COST. BUSINESSES AND INDIVIDUALS DONATE NEW AND USED ITEMS TO THE STORE. THE RESTORE PROGRAM ALSO OFFERS DECONSTRUCTION SERVICES TO THE PUBLIC, WITH ANY CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS SALVAGED FROM THE PROJECT BEING SOLD AT THE RESTORE. HOMEOWNERS AND OTHERS VOLUNTEER IN THE STORE, KEEPING THE OPERATING EXPENSES AS LOW AS POSSIBLE.
HOMEOWNER SERVICES: HABITAT GREENSBORO'S HOMEOWNER SERVICES PROGRAM RECRUITS, SELECTS, AND TRAINS POTENTIAL HOMEOWNERS AND PROVIDES LOW-INCOME FAMILIES ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE MORTGAGE FINANCING. HABITAT GREENSBORO HOMEOWNERS-IN-PROCESS COMMIT TO 250 HOURS OF SWEAT EQUITY, INCLUDING ~30 CLASSROOM HOURS ON HOME MAINTENANCE, FINANCE, BUDGETING, ETC. HABITAT GREENSBORO OFFERS OVER 12 CLASSES EACH YEAR AND EDUCATES 50-70 PEOPLE. REFRESHER CLASSES ARE OFFERED TO ANY EXISTING HOMEOWNER IN THE COMMUNITY, FOCUSING ON HOME REPAIR, FINANCIAL WELL-BEING, NUTRITION, AND OTHER CLASSES DESIGNED TO SUPPORT HOMEOWNER SUCCESS. ADDITIONALLY, AT LEAST 24 HOMEOWNERSHIP ACCESS INFORMATIONAL SESSIONS ARE HELD, PROVIDING INFORMATION TO 200-400 INDIVIDUALS.
