EFFORTS TOWARD COORDINATING THE STATE'S WOMEN'S CLUBS INCLUDING MEETINGS, COVENTION EXPENDITURES, MAGAZINE COSTS AND PROMOTING COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAMS THROUGH ARTS & CULTURE, CIVIC & ENGAGEMENT, EDUCATION & LIBRARIES, ENVIRONMENT, AND HEALTH & WELLNESS.
SCHOLARSHIPS: SALLIE SOUTHALL COTTEN IS A FOUR YEAR ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP GIVEN TO AN ACADEMIC AND WELL-ROUNDED STUDENT. COMPETITION IS BASED ON THE NINE DISTRICT WINNERS WHICH ARE ALL INTERVIEWED AND JUDGED AT THE ANNUAL GFWC-NC STATE ARTS FESTIVAL. THE GFWC-NC GREESON-JOHNSON TEACHING SCHOLARSHIP IS A 2,000 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED ANNUALLY AT APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY TO A JUNIOR OR SENIOR STUDENT FROM NORTH CAROLINA WHO IS ENROLLED IN THE TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM WITHIN THE REICH COLLEGE OF EDUCATION.
ARTS FESTIVAL: HELD ANNUALLY, IT IS A CELEBRATION OF THE ARTS WHICH IS NEARLY AS OLD AS OUR ORGANIZATION. COMPETITION AND VARIOUS MEDIUMS BASED ON DISTRICT WINNERS ARE HELD FOR BOTH CLUBWOMEN AND STUDENTS. STUDENT WINNERS RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS. THE ONE DAY EVENT IS HELD AT COMMUNITY CENTER, MEBANE, NC. WINNERS ARE FROM THE ENTIRE STATE AND IT IS ADVERTISED IN OUR GFWC-NC ADMINISTRATION BOOK WHICH LOCAL CLUBS SHARE WITH THEIR AREA SCHOOLS.
