THE FOUNDATION FOR PEACE IS A 501(C)(3) NOT-FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO EDUCATION IN THE UNITED STATES AND TO WORKING HAND IN HAND WITH PEOPLE IN MATERIALLY IMPOVERISHED AREAS OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, HAITI, AND KENYA TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT, HEALTHCARE ACCESS, ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY AND HOPE. WE WORK TOGETHER AS LONG-TERM PARTNERS IN SOLIDARITY TO ENABLE PERSONAL SUCCESS AND COMMUNITY ACHIEVEMENT. WE BELIEVE THIS WILL RESULT IN SUSTAINABLE AND SUCCESSFUL INITIATIVES THAT RELIEVE THE EFFECTS OF POVERTY, ENCOURAGE PERSONAL GROWTH, AND OVERCOME INJUSTICE.

OBJECTIVE: OUR MISSION TEAMS PUT INTO ACTION OUR MISSION STATEMENT - WE CAN'T DO EVERYTHING, BUT WE'LL DO ANYTHING! FOUNDATION FOR PEACE WORKS HAND IN HAND ON HEALTH, EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY INITIATIVES IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, HAITI AND KENYA. OUR FLEXIBLE PARTNERSHIP APPROACH LETS US SAY "YES" TO COMMUNITIES' GREATEST NEEDS, LEADING TO NEW OPPORTUNITIES AND LASTING RELATIONSHIPS.ACCOMPLISHMENTS: DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE HAD 31 VOLUNTEERS, MOST OF THEM AS PARTICIPANTS ON TWO MISSION TEAMS IN 2021; 1 TO KENYA AND 1 TO THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. THEREFORE WE FOCUSED ON RESPONDING TO THE EARTHQUAKE AND OUR ONGOING PARTNERSHIPS.HAITI HIGHLIGHTS:- THE MEN NAN MEN PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL CONTINUED CLASSES IN GANTHIER AND IN OUR MISSION HOUSE IN SANTO. IN 2021, ABOUT 400 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN CLASSES IN ENGLISH, SPANISH, FRENCH, COOKING, SEWING, TILING, COMPUTER, AND ELECTRICAL.- FFP CONTINUED TO PROVIDE EDUCATION, SECURITY AND OTHER BASIC NEEDS FOR THE CHILDREN AT THE CAD ORPHANAGE.- FFP RESPONDED TO THE EARTHQUAKE BY REPAIRING WALLS, ROOFS AND FLOORS OF HOMES AND SCHOOLS. FFP ALSO DISTRIBUTED HYGIENE KITS AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE TO THE COMMUNITIES OF LES CAYES (THE EPICENTER) AND PORT-SALUT.- WE PROVIDED MORE THAN 75 FAMILIES AFFLICTED BY PERSISTENT PHYSICAL CHALLENGES WITH FOOD AND TUITION FUNDS FOR THEIR CHILDREN IN HAITI.- WE CONDUCTED FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS IN THE COMMUNITY OF KWAKOK.- FFP SUCCESSFULLY OBTAINED 150 HAITIAN BIRTH CERTIFICATES FOR UNDOCUMENTED PEOPLE OF HAITIAN ORIGIN IN THE COMMUNITIES OF EL BATEY, PALO BONITO AND GUAYABAL. KENYA HIGHLIGHTS:- WE HAD OUR FIRST MISSION TRIP IN 2 YEARS!- WE CELEBRATED COMPLETION OF THE LIVING WORD CHURCH (LWC) SANCTUARY AND A DEDICATION OF ITS COMMUNITY CENTER. - THE TEAM VISITED HIV/AIDS PATIENTS WITH VOLUNTEER CHURCH CAREGIVERS AND PROVIDED 45 FAMILIES WITH FOOD AND MEDICAL CARE.- WE PARTNERED WITH LOCAL MEDICAL PERSONNEL AND LWC TO CONDUCT A TWO-DAY MEDICAL CAMP IN THE COMMUNITY CENTER FOR THE BROADER COMMUNITY, SEEING NEARLY 600 PATIENTS.- PARTNERED WITH KENYAN PROFESSIONALS TO HOLD TRAINING CLASSES FOR LOCAL TEACHERS AND MEDICAL SEMINARS FOR BROADER COMMUNITY. - AT THE TUMAINI SCHOOL, THE TEAM TAUGHT CLASSES AND PRESENTED A BIBLE SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR THE STUDENTS.DOMINICAN REPUBLIC HIGHLIGHTS:- WE HAD OUR FIRST MISSION TRIP IN 18 MONTHS!- WE PROVIDED EDUCATION ABOUT COVID-19 VACCINATIONS AND HELPED MANY GET THE DOCUMENTS NEEDED TO QUALIFY FOR FREE VACCINATION PROGRAMS- WE ORGANIZED AND RAN MULTIPLE COVID-19 VACCINE CLINICS IN THE COMMUNITIES OF EL BATEY AND KILOMETER 3 IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT (PHOTO BELOW MIDDLE)- WE CONDUCTED FOUR FOOD AND MASK DISTRIBUTIONS FOR THE VULNERABLE- WE PROGRESSED ON THE RENOVATION OF THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTER IN SANTO DOMINGO- WE HELPED BUILD AND PAINT THREE NEW HOUSES WITH THE LOCAL EL BATEY COMMUNITY- WE DISTRIBUTED MANY DONATIONS FROM THE US INCLUDING 30 PILLOWCASE DRESSES TO GIRLS IN EL BATEY- WE SUPPORTED MORE THAN 75 STUDENTS IN VOCATIONAL TRAINING CLASSES INCLUDING SEWING, BEAUTY AND BARBERING- HUNDREDS OF FACEMASKS WERE MADE AND DISTRIBUTED BY WOMEN IN THE SEWING CLASS FOR THE WHOLE COMMUNITY, USING FABRIC AND RESOURCES PROVIDED BY FFP DONORS.
