TO IDENTIFY AND ADDRESS RURAL POVERTY AND THE SYSTEMIC CAUSES OF POVERTY, AND TO PROMOTE ALLEVIATION OF ITS PROBLEMS BY HELPING TO STRENGTHEN POOR FAMILIES AND TO ASSIST THEM TO MAKE LASTING AND SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN THEIR LIVES.

Part 3 - Line 4a

SUMMER CAMPS PROVIDE SIX WEEKS OF SUPERVISED, EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 CHILDREN. CHILDREN ARE SERVED BREAKFAST AND LUNCH AND TRANSPORTED TO AND FROM THE CAMPS.


MIHOW (MATERNAL INFANT HEALTH OUTREACH WORKER) PROGRAM PROVIDES IN-HOME FAMILY EDUCATION TO APPROXIMATELY 60 FAMILIES WITH PREGNANT WOMEN OR INFANTS IN THE HOME. EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS EMPHASIZE THE HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE CHILDREN.


AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMMING PROVIDES FOR A SAFE AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN DURING AFTERSCHOOL HOURS. TWENTY FIVE CHILDREN ARE PROVIDED A MEAL, HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE, A WIDE VARIETY OF ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES AND TRANSPORTATION HOME.


THE ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM WORKS WITH PEOPLE AS THEY SEEK TO ACHIEVE THEIR EDUCATIONAL GOALS. SERVICES INCLUDE G.E.D. PREPARATION, COMPUTER TRAINING, JOB SEARCH SKILLS, AND COLLEGE TUTORING.
