THE CORPORATION SHALL PROMOTE WITHIN THE TERRITORY COVERED BY THE CHARTER FROM TIME TO TIME GRANTED IT BY THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONGRESSIONAL CHARTER BY-LAWS, AND RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA. THE SCOUTING PROGRAM OF PROMOTING THE ABILITY OF BOYS AND YOUNG MEN AND YOUNG WOMEN TO DO THINGS FOR THEMSELVES AND OTHERS, TRAINING IN SCOUTCRAFT, AND TEACHING PATRIOTISM, COURAGE, SELF-RELIANCE, AND KINDRED VIRTUES, USING THE METHODS WHICH ARE NOW IN COMMON USE BY THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA.

TRADITIONAL SCOUTING - OHIO RIVER VALLEY COUNCIL SERVES 1150 YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN FROM AGES 5 TO 18 IN TRADITIONAL SCOUTING THROUGHOUT OUR 10-COUNTY SERVICE AREA. THIS PROGRAM PROMOTES THE ABILITY FOR YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN TO ACCOMPLISH THINGS FOR THEMSELVES AND OTHERS, TRAINING BOYS AND GIRLS IN SCOUT CRAFT, SERVICE TO OTHERS, TEACHING PATRIOTISM, COURAGE AND SELF RELIANCE BY USING THE SCOUTING METHODS.
SCOUTREACH - THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY COUNCIL SERVES 73 AT RISK YOUTH IN OUR SCOUTREACH AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS IN TWO COUNTIES AND THREE SCHOOLS IN OUR SERVICE AREA. THIS PROGRAM TEACHES THE MERITS OF THE SCOUT OATH AND LAW, LIFE SKILLS, TEAM BUILDING, THE IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL FITNESS AND GOOD CITIZENSHIP.
VENTURING - THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY COUNCIL SERVES 15 MALE AND FEMALE YOUTH AGES 14-21 IN 3 CREWS. THE VENTURING PROGRAM IS A MORE FOCUSED HIGH ADVENTURE PROGRAM PROVIDING ACTIVITIES AND OUTINGS AT ADVANCED LEVELS REQUIRING MORE ADEPT SKILL SETS TO PARTICIPATE IN THEM. EXPLORING THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY COUNCIL SERVES 13 YOUTH AGES 14-21 IN 4 POSTS THROUGHOUT OUR 10-COUNTY SERVICE AREA. EXPLORING IS A CAREER SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE GIVING HANDS ON FIELD EXPERIENCE IN OCCUPATIONAL FIELDS LIKE FIRE SERVICE, EMS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT. THE EXPERIENCE EXPLORING OFFERS SETS A SOLID FOUNDATION FOR YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN ENTERING THESE SPECIFIC CAREER FIELDS AND PROVIDES TRAINING REQUIRED SO THEY MAY TRANSITION SEAMLESSLY INTO THE CAREER AS ADULTS.
