THE MUNICIPAL BAND OF CHARLOTTESVILLE,DBA THE CHARLOTTESVILLE BAND, IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO EXELLENCE IN THE PERFORMANCE OF HIGH QUALITY BAND AND ENSEMBLE MUSIC. THE BAND SERVES THE COMMUNITIES OF CHARLOTTESVILLE AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES IN VIRGINIA, PROVIDING MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT AND EDUCATION THROUGH FREE PUBLIC CONCERTS. THE BAND OWNS AND OPERATES THE MUNICIPAL ARTS CENTER IN CHARLOTTESVILLE WHICH SERVES THE COMMUNITY FOR LOCAL ARTS AND OTHER NONPROFIT GROUPS.

PERFORMANCE - THE MUNICIPAL BAND OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, DBA THE CHARLOTTESVILLE BAND, HAS APPROXIMATELY 80 VOLUNTEER PLAYING MEMBERS. TYPICALLY, THE BAND HOLDS 47 TWO-HOUR REHEARSALS PER YEAR, AND PERFORMS ON AVERAGE 12 CONCERTS ANNUALLY. IN ADDITION, THERE ARE SEVERAL SMALLER ENSEMBLES MADE UP OF BAND MEMBERS THAT REHEARSE AND PERFORM THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
FACILITIES - THE MUNICIPAL BAND OF CHARLOTTESVILLE,DBA THE CHARLOTTESVILLE BAND, OWNS AND OPERATES THE MUNICIPAL ARTS CENTER. IN ADDITION TO A REHEARSAL HALL, OFFICE AND STORAGE FACILITY FOR THE BAND, THE MUNICIPAL ARTS CENTER IS OFFERED FOR LEASE TO SERVICE CLUBS, EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS, MUSICAL AND DANCE GROUPS, SCHOOL GROUPS AND OTHERS. RENTAL AGREEMENTS ARE INEXPENSIVE AND TAILORED TO NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.
