Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
THE VIENNA JAMMERS' MISSION IS TO EDUCATE YOUTH THROUGH UNIQUE PERCUSSION PROGRAMS, PROVIDE A DYNAMIC AND DIVERSE EXPERIENCE IN THE PERFORMING ARTS, NURTURE THE CREATIVITY OF EACH CHILD, AND ENRICH THE LIVES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC PREVENTED THE GROUP ENSEMBLES FROM MEETING ALL TOGETHER DUE TO SIZE LIMITATIONS INDOORS. TO KEEP THE PROGRAMS RUNNING, A PRACTICE MARIMBA WAS BUILT FOR EACH MARIMBA GROUP MEMBER TO HAVE AT HOME. EQUIPMENT WAS PURCHASED TO ALLOW FOR STREAMING OF REHEARSALS, AND EACH LARGER ENSEMBLE WAS SPLIT IN HALF AND ALTERNATED MEETING LIVE AND VIRTUALLY TO ACCOMODATE AS MANY STUDENTS IN PERSON AS SAFELY AS POSSIBLE, WHILE MAINTAINING SOCIAL-DISTANCING GUIDELINES AS STATED BY THE CDC.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
EDUCATION: JAMMERS CAMPS & ENSEMBLE REHEARSALS: THE JAMMERS PROVIDED TWO WEEKS OF INSTRUCTIONAL SUMMER EXPERIENCE CAMPS OPEN TO ANY STUDENT IN THE SURROUNDING GEOGRAPHIC AREA OF VIENNA. THE JAMMERS ALSO HELD WEEKLY REHEARSALS FOR SEVENPERMANENT PERCUSSION ENSEMBLES JAMMERS BLACK, RED, GREEN, WHITE, STEEL, ADVANCED STEEL, AND PLATINUM.
PUBLIC PERFORMANCES: DURING THE SEASON, THE PANDEMIC PREVENTED ANY PUBLIC PERFORMANCES FROM HAPPENING DURING THE SEASON.
THE BIG JAM: THE LARGEST EVENT FOR THE SEASON, THE BIG JAM, WAS UNFORTUNATELY NOT ABLE TO HAPPEN LIVE FOR SAFETY REASONS RELATED TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. INSTEAD, THE DIFFERENT ENSEMBLES WERE VIDEO-TAPED AT JHQ BY MEMBERS OF THE JAMMERS TECH CREW, AND THE ENTIRE BIG JAM WAS EDITED AND DELIVERED AS A PRE-RECORDED LIVE CONCERT.
