GRANTS TO STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY:THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (TCF) GRANTS CONTINUE TO FLOURISH, PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT THROUGH OVER 1,200 GRANTS PRIMARILY MADE TO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS. OVER $6 MILLION IN GRANTS WERE AWARDED TO MORE THAN 450 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS SERVING IN THE AREAS OF HUMAN SERVICES, EDUCATION, HEALTH, ARTS, ANIMAL WELFARE, ENVIRONMENT, HISTORIC PRESERVATION, RECREATION, AND FAITH-BASED PROGRAMS. TCF ALSO PUBLISHES AN ANNUAL GIVING GUIDE WHICH HIGHLIGHTS THE NEEDS OF LOCAL NONPROFITS AND HELPS INFORM DONORS ABOUT HOW THEY CAN EASILY GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY WE LOVE.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT:TCF PARTNERS WITH LOCAL NONPROFITS TO RECEIPT, MANAGE, AND INVEST FUNDS, INCLUDING MANAGEMENT FOR COMPLEX FUNDS SUCH AS ENDOWMENTS, RAINY DAY FUNDS, OR CAPITAL CAMPAIGNS. TCF ALSO PROVIDES OFFICE AND MEETING SPACE AT A REASONABLE COST TO LOCAL NONPROFITS. THESE SUPPORTING SERVICES HELP NONPROFITS WITH LIMITED INTERNAL RESOURCES INCREASE THEIR CAPACITY AND FOCUS ON THEIR MISSION-RELATED PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY WE LOVE.
EDUCATION PROGRAM SERVICE AREA:TCF ADMINISTERS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR LOCAL STUDENTS MOSTLY LOCATED IN HARRISONBURG AND ROCKINGHAM COUNTY. SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS ARE BASED ON CRITERIA ESTABLISHED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE DONOR, SUCH AS FINANCIAL NEED, ACADEMIC SUCCESS, OR A SPECIFIC COURSE OF STUDY. SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS THIS YEAR SUPPORTED NEARLY 70 STUDENTS THROUGH RENEWABLE AND ONE-TIME SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING OVER $622,000. ADDITIONALLY, TCF IS AN APPROVED VIRGINIA SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION AND DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN $600,000 TO LOCAL PRIVATE SCHOOLS THROUGH VIRGINIA'S TAX CREDIT PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM HELPS MAKE PRIVATE EDUCATION MORE AFFORDABLE FOR ELIGIBLE FAMILIES THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF GENEROUS DONORS.
PROGRAM INITIATIVES:TCF HOSTS THE GREAT COMMUNITY GIVE, A COMMUNITY-WIDE GIVING DAY FOR LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. THIS YEAR, THE EVENT ENGAGED MORE THAN 7,600 DONORS AND RAISED OVER $2 MILLION FOR 148 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. TCF ALSO INITIATED THE DOLLY PARTON'S IMAGINATION LIBRARY PROGRAM TO BENEFIT HARRISONBURG AND ROCKINGHAM COUNTY'S YOUNGEST MEMBERS. THIS PROGRAM MAILS FREE, AGE-APPROPRIATE BOOKS EACH MONTH TO ANY CHILD IN THE COMMUNITY FROM BIRTH TO 5 YEARS OLD. OVER 23,000 BOOKS WERE MAILED THIS YEAR, PREPARING CHILDREN FOR KINDERGARTEN WHILE HELPING THEIR LITTLE MINDS GROW. TCF PROVIDES ON-GOING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR STAFF AND BOARDS OF NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH EXCELLENCE IN NONPROFIT LEADERSHIP WORKSHOPS.
