PROMOTE ANIMAL WELFARE BY RESCUING AND REHABILITATING ABUSED AND ABANDONED ANIMALS FOR PERMANENT ADOPTION WITHIN THE DC METRO AREA. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES HUMANE EDUCATION THROUGH THE WEBSITE'S RESOURCES AND PHONE HOTLINE. RECOGNIZING THE CONNECTION WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, STAFF PROVIDES ANIMAL CARE INFORMATION AND ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY RESOURCES. STAFF RESPONDEDTO CALLS TO ASSIST ANIMALS IN DISTRESS. THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 557 BENEFICIARIES OF THESE PROGRAM SERVICES.
