ON-WATER TRAINING PROGRAM - IN 2016 THE BOATU.S. FOUNDATION BEGAN TO EXPLORE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LAUNCH AN ON-WATER TRAINING COURSE, AIMED AT PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO GET HANDS ON SKILLS TRAINING ABOARD RECREATIONAL VESSELS. THE PILOT PHASE BEGAN IN 2017 AND HAS STEADILY INCREASED OVER TIME. THERE HAVE BEEN OVER 4,000 STUDENTS THAT HAVE RECEIVED TRAINING NATIONWIDE. THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ADDRESS A DISTINCT LACK OF TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES, AND RECREATIONAL BOATING ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES, WHILE ALSO SERVING AS A CATALYST TO THE GROWTH OF THE RECREATION.
GENERAL EDUCATION & RESEARCH - THIS AREA OF ACTIVITY ALLOWS THE FOUNDATION STAFF TO PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES WITH OTHER BOATING ORGANIZATIONS ON CURRENT AND NEW EMERGING SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS THAT SUPPORT THE GOALS OF THE FOUNDATION.
ONLINE COURSE - THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES FREE BOATING SAFETY COURSE ON THE INTERNET. ANY BOATER WITH A COMPUTER AND ACCESS TO THE INTERNET CAN TAKE THIS NASBLA APPROVED COURSE AND GAIN VALUABLE SAFETY INFORMATION AND SAFE BOATING SKILLS. A FREE CERTIFICATE MAY BE PRINTED BY THE STUDENT IF A SCORE OF 80% IS ACCOMPLISHED. THERE WERE 254,396 BOATERS WHO TOOK THE ONLINE COURSE IN 2021. THIS PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDES ADDITIONAL COURSES AVAILABLE ONLINE FOR PURCHASE OF WHICH HAVE BEEN TAKEN BY OVER 1,700 BOATERS IN 2021.
KIDS AFLOAT - PROVIDES LOCAL, US BASED NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AN OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY TO PURCHASE KID-SIZED LIFE JACKETS AT A DISCOUNTED RATE OF $5 PER JACKET.EPIRB RENTAL - PROVIDES EMERGENCY POSITION INDICATING RADIO BEACONS AND PERSONAL LOCATOR BEACONS TO BOATERS FOR RENT.FISHING LINE RECYCLING PROGRAM - BUILDS AND PROVIDES FISHING LINE RECYCLING BINS, SIGNAGE AND SUPPORT TO ACTIVE FISHING LOCATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
