PROVIDE SHORT TERM EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE AND SELF- SUFFICIENCY SERVICES TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE GREATER KINGSTOWNE/ FRANCONIA AREA. WE PROVIDE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE WITH FOOD, CLOTHING AND A FINANCIAL SAFETY NET. WE ALSO OFFER COUNSELING AND EDUCATION TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF POVERTY.

THE EMERGENCY RELIEF SERVICES (ERS) IS AT THE CORE OF KOINONIAS MISSION. KOINONIA, ON AN EVERYDAY BASIS, HELPS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES OVERCOME SHORT- TERM OBSTACLES IN THEIR LIVES. KOINONIA PROVIDES LIFE- SAVING AND LIFE- CHANGING ASSISTANCE THAT KEEPS POVERTY AT BAY IN THE LIVES OF OUR CLIENTS AND ULTIMATELY STABILIZES OUR COMMUNITY. ERS OPERATES A FOOD PANTRY AND PROVIDES BASIC FOOD PRODUCTS ON A MONTHLY BASIS. ERS ALSO OPERATES A CLOTHING CLOSET WHERE CLIENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SELECT CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS IN AN EFFORT TO HELP RELIEVE MONEY OTHERWISE SPENT ON CLOTHING AND/ OR HOUSEHOLD ITEMS. FINALLY ERS OFFERS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO COVER NEEDED RENTAL OR UTILITY NEED, OR PRESCRIPTION DRUGS; AND A SELF- SUFFICIENTLY PLAN CREATED BY BOTH THE CLIENT AND KOINONIA STAFF IN WHICH GOALS ARE IDENTIFIED AND A TIMELINE IS ARRANGED.
