JLW FOCUSES ON TRAINING ITS MEMBERS ON THE ESSENTIALS OF VOLUNTEERING AS WELL AS HIGHER-LEVEL SKILLS THAT ARE IN DEMAND BY COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. ARMED WITH THESE SKILLS, JLW MEMBERS ARE SENT INTO THE COMMUNITY AS VOLUNTEERS TO AID WHERE THEIR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED MOST. THAT CAN MEAN TUTORING A CHILD, MENTORING PARENTS AT A DAYCARE CENTER FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN, OR DELIVERING LIFE SKILLS SEMINARS TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN RECOVERY PROGRAMS.JLW PROVIDES TRAINED VOLUNTEERS ON A REGULAR BASIS TO A NUMBER OF NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN THE GREATER WASHINGTON, DC METROPOLITAN AREA. JLW ALSO PROVIDES TRAINED VOLUNTEERS FOR SHORT-TERM SERVICE IN RESPONSE TO REQUESTS FROM COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS.SINCE 1999, JLW HAS FOCUSED ITS ENERGY AND RESOURCES ON ADDRESSING THE LITERACY NEEDS OF THE GREATER WASHINGTON, DC COMMUNITY. JLW PARTNERS WITH MORE THAN 20 ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE GREATER WASHINGTON, DC AREA TO ADVANCE LITERACY.
