THE OBJECTIVE OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO SUPPORT EDUCATION ACTIVITIES WHICH WILL STIMULATE AND PROMOTE LEADERSHIP SKILLS OF STUDENTS THROUGH FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES EDUCATION ON A LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL LEVEL.

DURING FY 2023 THE ORGANIZATION HELD FIVE MEETINGS: NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (NLC) - THIS ANNUAL CONFERENCE IS DESIGNED TO TRAIN CHAPTER MEMBERS AND ADVISERS IN THEIR ROLES AS LEADERS; RECOGNIZE STATES, INDIVIDUALS, AND CORPORATIONS FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO FCCLA; ELECT NATIONAL OFFICERS, AND CONDUCT THE BUSINESS OF THE ORGANIZATION. THOUSANDS OF ATTENDEES PARTICIPATE OR ASSIST IN STAR (STUDENT TAKING ACTION WITH RECOGNITION) EVENTS, AND THE FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES KNOWLEDGE BOWL. NATIONAL FALL CONFERENCE (NFC) - A TWO-DAY MEETING SCHEDULED IN THE FALL, DESIGNED TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR MEMBERS AND ADVISERS THROUGH WORKSHOPS AND SESSIONS THAT INTERPRET THE NATIONAL PROGRAM FOCUS, INTRODUCE IDEAS AND DEVELOP STRATEGIES FOR CHAPTER PROJECTS, TRAIN CHAPTER OFFICERS, AND PROMOTE AN UNDERSTANDING OF FCCLA. MEMBERS ALSO COMPETE IN SKILLS DEMONSTRATION EVENTS THAT FOCUS ON COLLEGE AND CAREER-READY SKILLS IN FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES AND RELATED OCCUPATIONS.STATE ADVISER MANAGEMENT MEETING (SAMM) - THE STATE ADVISERS MANAGEMENT MEETING IS AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR FCCLA STATE ADVISERS AND STATE STAFF. ATTENDEES RECEIVE TRAINING IN CURRENT TOPICS RELATED TO EDUCATION, PUBLIC RELATIONS, CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION, AND OTHER RELEVANT AREAS. STATE ADVISERS AND STATE STAFF ALSO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO NETWORK WITH NATIONAL STAFF AND OTHER LEADERS FROM ACROSS THE NATION. CAPITOL LEADERSHIP - HELD EACH FALL IN WASHINGTON D.C., MEMBERS AND THEIR ADVISERS ENGAGE IN ADVOCACY AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING LED BY THE LEADERSHIP TRAINING TEAM AND NATONAL CONSULTANT TEAM. DURING CAPITOL HILL VISITS, ATTENDEES SHOWCASE AND INFORM LEGISLATORS OF THE VALUE OF FCCLA AND FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE EDUCATION, AND HOW THE SKILLS LEARNED WILL BETTER ENHANCE AND IMPACT CIVIL ENGAGEMENTCHAPTER ADVISER SUMMIT - HELD EACH WINTER, CHAPTER ADVISERS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN VALUABLE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WITHIN FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE EDUCATION TO BRING BACK TO THEIR CLASSROOMS.


MEMBERSHIP SERVICE: THIS DEPARTMENT MANAGES DATA PROCESSING RELATED TO MEMBER AFFILIATIONS AND OVERSEES DISTRIBUTION AND MAILINGS OF MEMBERSHIP SUPPLIES AND PUBLICATIONS TO THE STATE AND LOCAL LEVELS. IT MAINTAINS AFFILIATION RECORDS AND MEMBERSHIP LISTS AND PROVIDES ALUMNI SERVICE.


PROGRAM DEPARTMENT: THIS DEPARTMENT OVERSEES COMPETITIVE EVENTS, PLANS AND CONDUCTS MAJOR TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR NATIONAL OFFICERS, STATE PRESIDENTS, PEER EDUCATORS, AND OTHER CHAPTER MEMBERS INCLUDING THE ANNUAL MEETING. IT ALSO ASSISTS COMMUNICATIONS AND MEMBERSHIP DEPARTMENTS.


COMMUNICATIONS: THIS DEPARTMENT COORDINATES THE PUBLICATION FUNCTIONS OF THE ORGANIZATION. IT PRODUCES A WIDE VARIETY OF NEWSLETTERS, WORKSHOP AND SEMINAR MATERIALS, AS WELL AS OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION. IT EDUCATES AND INFORMS MEMBERS AND THE PUBLIC AS TO THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS. THIS DEPARTMENT ALSO OVERSEES AND HANDLES USE OF OUR REGISTERED TRADEMARKS.
