THE ORGANIZATION WAS ESTABLISHED UNDER THE NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS ACT, SEC. 302(C)(9) AND THE LABOR-MANAGEMENT COOPERATION ACT OF 1974 TO ADVANCE THE COLLECTIVELY-BARGAINED FINISHING INDUSTRIES THROUGH COMMUNICATION, TRUST, AND MUTUAL RESPECT BETWEEN THE INTERNATIONAL UNION OF PAINTERS AND ALLIED TRADES, AFL-CIO (IUPAT), THE FINISHING CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION, AND THE SIGNATORY EMPLOYERS OF IUPAT. THE ORGANIZATION IS THE: (1) PRIMARY RESOURCE FOR THE LEADER EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE, AND NETWORKING THAT IMPROVES THE CAPABILITIES OF THE UNIONIZED FINISHING INDUTRY'S WORKFORCE. (2) RECOGNIZED LEADER OF A LABOR-MANAGEMENT COOPERATIVE APPROACH TO ADVANCE THE COLLECTIVELY-BARGAINED FINISHING INDUSTRY; AND (3) DRIVING FORCE IN EXPANDING THE COOPERATIVE INITIATIVES TO ADDITIONAL FINISHING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION AND UNION ENTITIES AT ALL LEVELS.

INDUSTRY ADVOCACY - DEVELOPED AND LAUNCHED A COMPREHENSIVE MARKETING AND PROMOTION CAMPAIGN FOCUSED ON ENHANCING IUPAT SIGNATORY CONTRACTORS MARKET SHARE. DEVELOPED AND DEPLOYED A MARKETING CAMPAIGN FOCUSED ON INCREASING THE NUMBER OF CONTRACTORS AND CRAFTWORKERS TAKING PART IN INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS AND CONTRACTOR QUALITY MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO INCREASE CONTRACTORS COMPETITIVENESS. DEVELOPED AN ONLINE PLATFORM TO DISTRIBUTE NEWLY CREATED BROCHURES AND OTHER MARKETING COLLATERAL. HELD INDUSTRY WORKGROUPS FOCUSED ON TARGETED INDUSTRY ISSUES AND PROBLEM SOLVING, IDENTIFIED BY A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT BETWEEN LABOR AND MANAGEMENT.


CREATED SEVERAL NEW PROGRAMS THAT AFFECT LABOR AND MANAGEMENT INCLUDING RECRUITING AND RETAINING A MORE DIVERSE WORKFORCE, REDUCING THE RATE OF SUICIDE AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE BY MEMBERS WORKING FOR SIGNATORY CONTRACTORS, PROMOTING INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS IN CORROSION PREVENTION AND INSPECTION, INDUSTRIAL COATINGS, AND GLAZING. CREATED AND MAINTAINED RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER 3RD PARTY ORGANIZATIONS AND PARTICIPATED IN INDUSTRY TRADE-SHOWS AND STANDARDS WRITING WORKSHOPS AND COMMITTEES.


EDUCATION AND TRAINING - SUPPORTED INDUSTRY ADVANCEMENT PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT NORTH AMERICA FOCUSED AIMED AT INCREASING CONTRACTOR PROFITABILITY AND MARKETSHARE AND CONTRIBUTING TO POSITIVE AND PROGRESSIVE LABOR MANAGEMENT RELATIONSHIPS. AWARDED GRANTS FOCUSED ON INCREASING CONTRACTOR BIDDING AND PERFORMANCE CAPACITY.
