THE ROTARY CLUB OF WASHINGTON, DC ESTABLISHED A FOUNDATION, THE FOUNDATION OF WASHINGTON DC, IN JULY 1922 TO SUPPORT ITS WORKS OF CHARITY OF EVERY DESCRIPTION IN WASHINGTON, DC. LATER, THE CLUB EXPANDED THE FOUNDATIONS MISSION TO INCLUDE THE GREATER WASHINGTON DC AREA (DMV). THUS, 2022 WAS THE FOUNDATIONS CENTENNIAL. TO RECOGNIZE ITS CENTENNIAL THE FOUNDATION OFFERED A $100,000 GRANT OPPORTUNITY. THIS GRANT WAS AWARDED TO THE MULTICULTURAL CAREER INTERN PROGRAM (MCIP) OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS EDUCATIONAL CAMPUS (CHEC), A WASHINGTON, DC PUBLIC SCHOOL. IN ADDITION, THE FOUNDATION CONTINUED ITS ANNUAL COMPETITION FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE GRANTS ($95,000) AND INTERNATIONAL AND SERVICE GRANTS ($29,000). FURTHER, THE FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO SUPPORT DC METROPOLITAN AREA YOUTH THROUGH ITS INTERACT (HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL ROTARIANS), ROTARACT (COLLEGE AGE AND YOUNG PROFESSIONAL ROTARIANS), ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY (A THREE-DAY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM), AND THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB. AS A MEANS OF FOSTERING AN EVEN HIGHER LEVEL OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY, THE FOUNDATION ESTABLISHED A WHISTLEBLOWER POLICY, WHICH ENCOURAGES OUR COMMUNITY TO REPORT ANY TYPE OF MISMANAGEMENT, AND OUTLINES OF PROCEDURE FOR DOING SO. FURTHER, TO STRENGTHEN RECORD-KEEPING PROCEDURES, THE FOUNDATION ESTABLISHED A DOCUMENT RETENTION AND DESTRUCTION POLICY, WHICH PROMOTES THE APPROPRIATE PRESERVATION, ARCHIVING, AND DESTRUCTION OF DOCUMENTS.
