ADVOCACY AND TRAINING: DRI IS COMMITTED TO STRENGTHENING THE WORLDWIDE MOVEMENT OF ACTIVISTS, INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS, AS WELL AS BOTH GOVERNMENTAL AND PRIVATE DONORS SEEKING TO PROMOTE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE UNITED NATIONS CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (CRPD) IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES AND AROUND THE WORLD. DRI USES OUR HUMAN RIGHTS DOCUMENTATION TO TRAIN ACTIVISTS AND TO INFORM AND ADVISE DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS AND DONORS. WE PROVIDE SUPPORT, TRAINING, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE ON THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF BEST PRACTICES FOR DISABILITY RIGHTS ENFORCEMENT AND COMMUNITY INCLUSION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. WE FILE CASES WITH REGIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS BODIES AND THE UNITED NATIONS TO PROMOTE HUMAN RIGHTS OVERSIGHT AND IMPLEMENTATION.
INFORM AND EDUCATE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT POLICYMAKERS AND INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND DISABILITY ORGANIZATIONS BASED IN THE UNITED STATES ABOUT THE URGENT NEED TO PROTECT PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AROUND THE WORLD AND ABOUT STEPS NECESSARY TO BRING ABOUT EFFECTIVE INCLUSION IN THEIR PROGRAMS. THE U.S. PROGRAM ALSO BRINGS ATTENTION TO HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS AGAINST PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN THE UNITED STATES AND ENGAGES IN POLICY ADVOCACY TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS LAW.
