INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES PROGRAM: INCLUDES ACL 1 & 2; ACL 1 & 2 COVID (CARES ACT) ; YLF, DORS-IL AND AAB WHICH ARE DIRECTED TOWARD PROMOTING MAXIMUM INDEPENDENCE OF THOSE SERVED BY OUR CORE SERVICES OF IL SKILLS, PEER MENTORING, INFORMATION AND REFERRAL, ADVOCACY AND TRANSITION SERVICES. CARES ACT FUNDS WERE USED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES FACING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC. THIS INCLUDED CASE MANAGEMENT, SHARING OF INFORMATION, HOSTING VIRTUAL EDUCATIONAL EVENTS AND PURCHASING EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES FOR CONSUMERS. THE GEOGRAPHIC AREA FOR THESE SERVICES IS MONTGOMERY AND PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTIES. THE YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM PROVIDES LEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES ENTERING THEIR LAST 2 YEARS IN HIGH SCHOOL.
COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAM: INCLUDES DORS-AT, EMPLOYMENT AND EARN. INCLUDES ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS TO EVALUATE AND RECOMMEND MAKING HOMES MORE ACCESSIBLE FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING. THIS INCLUDES FUNDING FOR HOME MODIFICATIONS AND PURCHASING ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY. EMPLOYMENT SERVICES ARE PROVIDED UPON REFERRALS FROM FUNDING ENTITIES, INCLUDING JOB PREP, JOB DEVELOPMENT AND JOB COACHING. THE EARN PROGRAM SUPPORTS PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES TO PURSUE BECOMING A CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT AND THEN SEEKING EMPLOYMENT IN THE FIELD.
WORK INCENTIVES PLANNING AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: ASSISTS INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES AND MEMBERS OF THE AGING COMMUNITY WHO RECEIVE DISABILITY BENEFITS FROM SOCIAL SECURITY WHO WANT TO EXPLORE RETURNING TO WORK. PEOPLE WHO REQUEST SERVICES RECEIVE INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE FROM A CERTIFIED COMMUNITY WORK INCENTIVES COORDINATOR WHO PRESENT WORK INCENTIVES AND INFORMATION ON HOW WORK AFFECTS BENEFITS.
