CERTIFIED SURVEY TECHNICIAN- THIS CERTIFICATION IS A FOUR-LEVEL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR SURVEYING TECHNICIANS THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES. THE CERTIFICATION INDICATES OFFICIAL RECOGNITION BY NSPS THAT A PERSON HAS DEMONSTRATED THAT HE OR SHE IS MINIMALLY COMPETENT TO PERFORM SURVEYING TASKS AT A SPECIFIED TECHNICAL LEVEL.
HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYOR CERTIFICATION- HYDROGRAPHER CERTIFICATION IS WELL RECOGNIZED AND CONSIDERED BY MANY FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL AGENCIES AS WELL AS PRIVATE FIRMS, SEEKING SUBCONTRACTORS WHEN EVALUATING TECHNICAL PROPOSALS FOR MARINE ENGINEERING, SURVEYING AND CONSTRUCTION. THESE AGENCIES INCLUDE PORT AUTHORITIES, NOAA AND THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS. THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM IS ALSO ENDORSED BY THE HYDROGRAPHIC SOCIETY OF AMERICA, WHICH PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
TRIG-STAR COMPETITION - THE TRIG-STAR PROGRAM CONTEST IS AN ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL MATHEMATICS COMPETITION SPONSORED BY THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL SURVEYORS, BASED ON THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF TRIGONOMETRY. THE PROGRAM RECOGNIZES THE BEST STUDENTS FROM HIGH SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES.
A)SOCIETY PROMOTION THROUGH COMPETITIONS, AWARDS, AND SCHOLARSHIPS. B)PARTICIPATION WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SURVEYING PROFESSION, THROUGH MEMBERSHIPS IN AND TRAVEL TO THOSE ORGANIZATION'S CONFERENCES FOR INTERACTION ON ISSUES OF MUTUAL INTEREST. C)NSPS HAS BECOME A DISTRIBUTOR OF 'GET KIDS INTO SURVEY' POSTERS, PRODUCED BY ELAINE BALL TECHNICAL MARKETING. POSTERS ARE PUBLISHED WITH A VARIETY OF THEMES, WHICH ARE DISTRIBUTED TO EDUCATORS AND SPONSORS FOR THE PURPOSE OF INTRODUCING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS TO SURVEYING AS A POTENTIAL CAREER CHOICE.
