THE MISSION OF HOSANNA COMMUNITY HOUSE, DOING BUSINESS AS HOSANNA SCHOOL MUSEUM, IS TO COLLECT, PRESERVE. AND INTERPRET THE HISTORY OF HARFORD COUNTY, MARYLAND THROUGH THE LENS OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN EXPERIENCE WITHIN NATIONAL CONTEXTS.

THE HOSANNA SCHOOL MUSEUM HAS RECENTLY ACHIEVED SIGNIFICANT MILESTONES IN EXPANDING ITS IMPACT ON AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE PRESERVATION IN HARFORD COUNTY. ONE OF ITS MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IS THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FREEDMENS SCHOOLS OF HARFORD COUNTY, MARYLAND DATABASE, A COMPREHENSIVE RESOURCE DOCUMENTING THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS THAT SERVED NEWLY EMANCIPATED AFRICAN AMERICANS DURING THE RECONSTRUCTION ERA. ADDITIONALLY, THE MUSEUM LAUNCHED A TRAVELING EXHIBIT TITLED TRIALS AND TRIUMPHS: THE AFRICAN AMERICAN EXPERIENCE IN HARFORD COUNTY, WHICH WILL BE DISPLAYED IN PUBLIC BUILDINGS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY, BRINGING THE RICH HISTORY OF LOCAL AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITIES DIRECTLY TO THE PUBLIC. IN RECOGNITION OF THE AREAS HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE, **MCCOMAS VILLAGE** WAS ALSO IDENTIFIED AS A HARFORD COUNTY HISTORIC LANDMARK DISTRICT, FURTHER CEMENTING THE MUSEUMS ROLE IN PRESERVING AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE.
