WE ARE A LIFELINE FOR VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL VIOLENCE, AND STALKING BY PROVIDING SAFE HAVEN, ADVOCACY, RESOURCES AND HOPE IN HARFORD COUNTY.

CLINICAL PROGRAMTHE CLINICAL PROGRAM CONTINUES TO SERVE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY, AS WELL AS ADULT AND CHILD VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ABUSE AND STALKING.SARC PROVIDED CLIENTS IN CRISIS 3,027 HELPLINE CALLS, WHERE THEY WERE ABLE TO LEARN ABOUT ESTABLISHING A SAFETY PLAN, FORMULATE A SHORT TERM ACTION PLAN, AND RECEIVE INFORMATION AND REFERRALS. SARC COUNSELORS PROVIDED 970 COUNSELING SESSIONS TO ADULT CLIENTS. CHILDREN'S COUNSELORS HELPED CHILDREN IN 201 COUNSELING SESSIONS.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION THE OUTREACH PROGRAM PROVIDES TRAINING, PRESENTATIONS AND EDUCATION ON THE PREVENTION AND EFFECTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT AND STALKING.
RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMIN AN EFFORT TO HELP SURVIVORS PREVENT HOMELESSNESS AND PROMOTE SELF-SUFFICIENCY, SARC PROVIDES A 40 BED CRISIS SHELTER. RESEARCH HAS FOUND THAT 38% OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS BECAME HOMELESS AFTER THEY SEPARATED FROM THEIR ABUSIVE PARTNER. AN ADDITIONAL 25% INDICATED THAT THEY HAD TO LEAVE THEIR HOMES DURING THE YEAR FOLLOWING THE SEPARATION FOR BOTH SAFETY AND FINANCIAL REASONS.IN THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR, SARC PROVIDED 7,566 ABUSE-FREE BED NIGHTS TO 173 CLIENTS.
LEGAL PROGRAMHELPING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS ACCESS LEGAL REPRESENTATION IS IMPERATIVE TO HELPING SURVIVORS FLEE FROM THEIR ABUSIVE PARTNERS. THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT ATTORNEYS AND STAFF ACCOMPANIED CLIENTS TO 96 HEARINGS FOR TEMPORARY AND FINAL PROTECTIVE ORDERS, DIVORCE AND CUSTODY PROCEEDINGS AND CRIMINAL TRIALS. ATTORNEYS REPRESENTED CLIENTS IN 196 COURT PROCEEDINGS. STAFF CONDUCTED 650 CRISIS COUNSELING SESSIONS AND 1,116 SAFETY PLANNING SESSIONS. 81% OF SARC'S CLIENTS SEEKING A PROTECTIVE ORDER RECEIVED ONE.
