THE WASHINGTON REGIONAL ALCOHOL PROGRAM'S PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE IS TO COMBAT DRUNK DRIVING AND UNDERAGE DRINKING IN THE WASHINGTON, DC METROPOLITAN AREA BY INCREASING PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THEIR HAZARDS THROUGH MEDIA BROADCASTING AND PUBLICATIONS. FEDERAL AND STATE AWARDS WERE RECEIVED BY THE WASHINGTON REGIONAL ALCOHOL PROGAM AND USED TO PROMOTE SOBER DRIVING AND THE DANGER OF UNDERAGE DRINKING, ETC.
